As a student with only a year left of highschool, I have an understanding of what I am considering to do when I graduate. As much as I would love to teach children in school, I have found a different profession that sparked my interest. Being an Occupational Therapist would be the job of my dreams. Occupational Therapist is just one of the many different types of Therapists. To do a job with such high expectations, I had to plan out the skills, passions, and interest that I excel in. Growing up as an only child I did not have many friends. I was always playing teacher, doctor, and mom with all my stuffed animals that I had laid out on my bedroom floor. After taking the two tests, I could put both together under the filtered results and look at different jobs that are based on the hobbies and interests that I liked to do. Jobs that are under my interests categories are jobs such as teaching, nursing, and counseling. While seeing that I knew that being an Occupational Therapist was still my number one choice on my list of future jobs (“ASVAB”). To make sure that Occupational Therapy was still on my list, I tried to find out as much information I could to see if I would enjoy that occupation. For myself I wanted to look for the hours for Occupational Therapist. Occupational Therapist work an average of 40 hours a week. I found that perfect because I figured that I did not want to overwork myself and I wanted to raise a family. Under Occupation Therapy was a category of Pediatrics. In Pediatrics I would be able to help children grow (“All Allied Health Schools”) I could have fun with kids and work at the same time.
