First, I believe by obtaining my Master in Theology from Liberty University it has helped me develop a stronger and deeper understanding of God’s word. My studies at Liberty have set me up for success in the Doctorate Program at Liberty. Liberty seminary staff has very knowledge staff and motivates their students to excel in their studies and gain a full understanding God’s word. The instructors at the Rawley’s Seminary school has a great depth of knowledge and wants the seminary students to gain a deeper understanding of God’s word to be able to minster to other people around the world. We need strong Christian based teachers to educate not only the Churches, but the entire world on why we need to believe in our living God.
As an undergraduate of Howard University, I have been made aware of the power I hold when I remain dedicated to my studies and committed to serve the community. To enter the medical field as a black female doctor would help shift the shortage of blacks in medicine. Difficult but not impossible-- I aim to receive a B.S in Biology to help me accomplish my medical aspirations. It is my intention to complete my undergraduate studies with a 3.6 or higher and then attend Baylor College of Medicine. Upon completion, I aspire to open a clinic in an impoverished area, with the purpose of providing affordable medical aid for kids dealing with sexually transmitted diseases like HIV/AIDS.
In both ancient Greece and modern American society, people who drink alcohol are punished. No matter the degree of the punishment, there are consequences to drinking alcoholic beverages. The consequence to drinking could be as minor as giving away valuable gifts to strangers or as grave as taking another person's or one's own life. Alcohol impairs the function of the brain which, in turn, makes someone vulnerable to any harm. Although many things have changed from ancient Greece up to today's modern society, the consequences that follow alcohol are quite similar.
As a student, I’ve always strived to actively participate in my school as much as possible. This all started in middle school when I chose to participate in ASB leadership, track, football, and basketball. I feel that my motives to take on as many tasks as possible stemmed from the strong encouragement from my parents. My dad never attended college, and my mom only attended for a short period of time, and as a result of this, neither were able to obtain their ideal career path. Due to this, my parents constantly reminded me as I grew up about the importance of doing well in school and becoming the first in the family to earn a college degree.
Ever since I was a little girl, I always had ambitions for success, no matter how big or small they were. I always knew I would go to college and I knew I was destined to work in the medical field. After being out of school for a few years following graduation, I heard about the many programs and hands on training offered by ECPI. I did a little research of my own into the University and realized that this was the perfect school for me.
While I was searching for the college I wanted to begin the next part of my life in, I decided I wanted to attend an HBCU that was in a large city. Not only does Howard University fulfill both of these, but Howard also has all of my passions and interests in and outside of the classroom. I am interested in pursuing a Sociology degree within The College of Arts and Sciences. I want to organize my studies with a focus around the black community and urban development. The required and elective courses such as Problems in the Black Community within Howard’s Sociology curriculum will allow me to shape my classes to do this.
Growing up in a Christian household has nurtured my walk with God throughout my life. Since a young age, I have known God as my personal savior, but my faith and trust in Him have grown over the past several years. This past summer, I took part in a worship leader internship program at our church, which provided me with the opportunity to plan and lead worship services. Participating in this program helped me grow closer to God, but it also taught me how to be a leader rather than a follower. As God continues revealing His plan for my life, I feel called to attend Verity and to pursue my passion with a career in law enforcement.
I attended school at Lafayette High School in Lafayette, Louisiana. It has more students than any high school in Louisiana with about 2500 students enrolled. Lafayette High is also home to the gifted program of the parish as well as a health academy which offers students the opportunity to familiarize themselves with various aspects of the medical field and provides them with experience in hospitals. Finally, the school offers a myriad of extracurriculars for students to participate in outside of school hours. I am proud to say that I was a part of the gifted program at Lafayette High and had the opportunity to study under some great teachers.
At Indiana University Bloomington I plan to major in Environmental Studies. I hope to potentially further this degree by applying it to a Pre-Law program. Growing up on a farm, I have been instilled with the idea that the environment is important and that we must take care of it. As a now young adult I continue to hold this mindset and want to implement it into my everyday life and career. Indiana University offers many opportunities for me to pursue this field of study and enjoy it in the process.
I am honored to have the opportunity to apply to the COAS Honors Program and express my interest in this prestigious program. The program's reputation for academic excellence and intellectual rigor, coupled with its focus on interdisciplinary learning and fostering a vibrant intellectual community, makes it an ideal platform for my personal and academic growth. Through this essay, I aim to highlight my passion for learning, my commitment to intellectual exploration, and my belief in the transformative power of education. First and foremost, I am deeply passionate about learning and expanding my knowledge across a wide range of disciplines. The COAS Honors Program's emphasis on interdisciplinary studies aligns perfectly with my intellectual
Reading is one of the most powerful tools someone can have at their disposal; it creates opportunities for life long learning. There are six million students in the California school system and 25% of those students are unable to perform basic reading skills. For young students the most critical stages for reading skills is kindergarten through third grade. Students transition from learning to read to reading to learn in fourth grade. In Santa Clara and San Mateo counties programs were created to help battle against illiteracy and give students and adults extra help.
As a first-generation college student, I’ve changed the course of my family. I’ve set the educational standards and have made a path for my younger sisters and future family to follow; but if I can raise the bar higher, I will. With the countless opportunities that the PATHS program has to offer, I intend to leverage the experience and the resources provided to further my education by working towards a Masters Degree. This goal of mine won’t come without its challenges, but in the event that I do have the honor to become a PATHS scholar, I intend to use my experience of mentorship and academic sucess that I achieved as an Undergraduate and continue to thrive and further my education. In addition to this, I desire to leverage my experience in the PATHS program to land a job in a Bio-technology company in which my career will bring happiness and financially stability to me and my familyI. Not only this, but I yearn to work for a Bio-tech company whose mission statement is dedicated solely on the advancement of science and not on the economic prosperity that comes from developing scientific breakthroughs.
Before deciding to apply for the Honors Program at National Park College, I recognized that I aspired to be a part of something that not only challenged myself but to be a part of an organization that would make a significant impact on future students that attend National Park and the college itself. When I first was informed about the Honors Program I was considerably excited and anxious about what the program may intel and all the opportunities that would be provided to the students who were admitted. Many of my peers and teachers in my high school motivated and urged me to apply even with the chance that I may not get accepted. After the application process, I attempted to not bother myself with the prospect that I may or may not get admitted because I knew only the most exceptional students were going to be eligible. Luckily, I got accepted.
I am interested in applying to Illinois Institute of Technology for its innovative environment and for the benefits of it location. I want to gain real experience in my major through internships, so I am excited knowing that Illinois Institute of Technology’s location will offer me a limitless selection. I want to experience an environment where innovation is always encouraged and progress flourishes. As Illinois Tech is a research university, I know this type of environment will supported by professors and practiced by my peers. When I was researching Illinois Tech, I was excited to find that I can participate in research as an undergraduate.
The Community Center is an important aspect of life in the dorms, and I know that throughout my first year at the university I have come to the community center with many questions and have always been met by someone willing to help me in any way possible. I’m hoping to become a part of the residential community in order to continue this environment of support, inclusion, and respect that is of such vital importance in the dorms, and also just anywhere in life. I’m planning on majoring in Sociology, and because of this I’m very interested in the importance of mutual respect, diversity, and inclusion found within communities, and how we can work together to improve each of these ideals. I enjoy being able to help people in any way that I can,
