Initial ideas
Initially for my research project I was thinking about focusing on either puppy mills or cat management. With assistance from teachers and my parents, I managed to choose a topic and develop my question involving cat management.
Consideration, identification and definition of the topic
I have chosen to research a question revolving around cat management as it is a major interest of mine and it is an issue at this time. I have decided to focus on the environmental aspects of cat management in Adelaide. My research question is ‘what are the environmental impacts of unmanaged domestic cats in suburban Adelaide?’ particular issues I will be focusing on include:

- Domestic cats in suburban Adelaide

Reflecting on personal ethics, exploring ideas and rights, developing ethical sustainability, inquiring into ethical issues, debating ethical dilemmas.
Resources and research process I am planning to use
Utilising primary and secondary resources, I will be able to gather various opinions and part experiences about my topic, this includes websites such as:

- Dog and cat board (www.dogandcatboard.com.au)
- Australian Government Department of the Environment (www.environment.gov.au)
- Cats and wildlife (www.teatreegully.sa.gov.au)
- Australian geographic (www.australiangeographic.com.au)
Through conversations with the RSPCA, Zoo’s, Local Council Animal Control Department, wildlife park’s staff and cat owners in Adelaide, I will be able to gain more information about unmanaged cats in Adelaide. I will have the opportunity to discover the variety of innovations and practices to improve animal control that I didn’t know before and find out information that will help me with my research project.
