As stated above, organisation policies are important. However, so is staff training. By having organisational policies, it ensures that staff and service users are aware of what conduct, and behaviour is acceptable and what is not. Fop example, procedures, such as the complaint procedures need to be clear and understood by everyone and support should be given so that everyone has the opportunity to make a complaint about any behaviour they are not happy about. This may involve assigning an advocate to be able to speak for them on their behalf. Training is very important in reducing the risk of abuse as it ensures that all new staff are aware of any new legislation, policies and procedures and so, they will be less likely to abuse the service users. This is the main body which regulates and inspects all health and social care settings. This organisation took over responsibilities from the commission for social care inspection, healthcare commission and the mental health commission. It is their responsibility to make sure peoples rights are being respected (including those who has been involuntarily detained) and the organisations are following the rules. They are also the ones who investigate any allegations of abuse. they help to reduce abuse as they complete regular inspections of all the settings. This means they are more likely to spot abuse or a poor standard of care being given. They are also able to take action if a good standard of care is not being met. For example, at first, they will recommend improvements and if this is not followed then they made decide to shut down the settings. This helps to stop abuse from taking pace and if it does then they have the power to stop it from continuing to happen.
