Incorporating the best Design in Websites: genius.com Analysis
In this website evaluation, I chose Samuel Taylor Coleridge's "A Sunset". This poem can be found in a lot of websites, but I chose the one which had received high ranking on Google which is genius.com. I chose this website I was curious to know why the website received a high ranking. Some of the aspects I will evaluate include responsiveness, design and content accessibility. In order to come up with a comprehensive analysis, it is important to compare the website with others offering similar contents. One of the key components of a great website simplicity while maintaining proper functionality and offering all necessarily information. Simplicity ensures that users focus on message rather than having a multitude of animations as well as other effects. I noted that the website offers a great design compared to other websites offering the same poem. It appeals to an average person given it’s simple but effective design. However, I think it would be better if there was an online chart capability where one can contact the website administrator. Design is consistent in all pages and can easily be read. Content is well written with only a few mistakes. In addition, list of links to other work by Samuel Taylor Coleridge falls short in design given that it should be arranged in alphabetical order in order to make it easy for users to locate a certain piece of art. Logo for genius.com is found in all pages while the design is persistent, but it does not have icons in all the pages. The fonts for the links and color are well done with the problem being that they do not show active or visited link which is a common design in web 2.0.
