Drinking Time Alcohol has a clear double side in our society. Alcohol could let people savor the moment, celebrate special events, or build strong relationships with others. It can alsolead to people have alcohol abuse, alcohol related medical problems, and drunk driving. Each individual has different reasons to drink alcohol. Some people drink alcohol to enjoy the moment, make memories with friends, get rid of stress from work, or escape from the past or present. To achieve what they want, they find bars, restaurants, or liquor stores to drink or buy alcohol. People normally visit bars, restaurants, and clubs to get rid of stresses after work, or school at night. Many people continue to drink in other locations after 2.a.m. Regulating time does not matter to people who have a strong desire to enjoy their time with others and alcohol. Unfortunately, people search for illegal places, which serve alcohol after 2.a.m., to party and could get in the trouble any time. Some cities, including Chicago, Washington D.C, New York City, Buffalo, Las Vegas, Miami Beach, already extended alcohol serving hours beyond 2 a.m. According to one supervisor in Alabama, “I have no problem with it, but people do tend to get a little crazier after 2 a.m.” (Smith). Drunken people do crazy things. Drunken people get in brawls, drunken drivers accidentally kill people, and girls have been raped or abused by drunken attackers. These abnormal and crazy events happen due to alcohol. Extending last call at 4 a.m. might be better for people who want to have fun until midnight in safe places, but some people, who want to hang out after 4 a.m., have a high chance of going crazy and they are hard to control. Psychologically, the more one has, the more one wants, and finally people may lose control. It might happen to the party people. DUI, Driving Under the Influence, is irresponsible and irreparable behavior, because alcohol makes people to unconscious and causes people to lose motor function. Due to decreased motor function, drunken drivers could make harsh accidents unwillingly. Drunken driver, Smallridge, killed two girls, he asserts “Smallridge made it clear to audience no matter what the circumstances – peer pressure, bad judgment, or not wanting to leave your vehicle overnight, driving under the influence should never be an option” (Shapiro, 1). Smallridge mentions DUI is the worst choice that he made after he drank alcohol. Drunken people have to choose safe moment for them and others. The moment of wrong choice could bring irrevocable incidents to them and innocent people. They might have to go to jail and give horrific memory to victims and families due to their choice. DUI victims possibly could be drunk or could be just a random person who was passing by on the road. On the victim’s family side, it is a tragic and unforgettable event for them. In addition, that accident can become a trauma, so the victim could get a PTSD, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. PTSD is a disorder that causes people to have a hard time to recovering from a traumatic event they experienced or witnessed.
