But those people don't start playing in high school or even late middle school, some of them get introduced the second the have basic cognitive function. But getting a competitive advantage over your opponent through experience and game knowledge isn’t all the gain from being introduced to sports at a young age. Learning experiences aren’t only gained through the teaching of coaches, but increase in physical health. Social skills is a skill that isn’t what people will learn, but a matter of when. The importance of social skills in the real world sometimes goes over looked. “Through their teams, they can connect with other children their age and begin to make friends and build lasting relationships.” Says the YMCA in their article (7). These friendships are incredibly important because they introduce kids to new cultures and environments that they otherwise haven’t seen. These new friends open up kids to be with others their age, which is incredibly important because they can share the knowledge they hold with each other in their own ways that they might not even know they are doing. For instance, if the exchange is about an altercation with a fellow peer or adult, the kids can gather new ways to handle the consequences of those altercations. A club called Little Foxes Club that is for young kids to play a multitude of sports also says that, sports help with learning to speak to people and the ways to get along with teammates. All of these are easily able to see progress, but some aren’t quite as noticeable in people. Mental health isnt something that you can look at, see noticeable changes or have some type of measurements to compare to because everyone is different. Peoples mental health can be up or down throughout different interactions with so many different things. Some people might be able to find a better mental peace and quiet, but others might not be able to stay in a good head space if the start to feel lonely even for a little. But many companies, studies and articles, like the one Rocky Top Sports World made, show that kids in sports tend to have lower rates of depression, anxiety and anxiety. As well as lower substance abuse and high emotional stability with increased self confidence. All of these directly impact athletes by something as simple as making them happy and making it harder for them to be sad. The boast of self confidence will make self love easier and harder to not have. Substance abuse is often directly related to anxiety. And the friends as well as distractions like just simply getting their mind off of the hardnocks of life. Kids are easily influenced when they are young and impressionable. That
