Is cyberbullying actually that big of a deal? Bullying has always been an issue in society with all age groups, but have the advancements in technology begun to shift the setting of bullying over a computer screen? The article titled “Cyberbullying is a Serious Problem” does great justice of proving that cyberbullying is an actual threat to today’s society. This article written by the group, Policing the Internet, thoroughly explains the facts about the issue of cyberbullying and its victims and perpetrators. First of all, the article proves the threat of cyberbullying very efficiently. The author explains that along with the presence of offline bullying, cyberbullying is beginning to become common in today’s world of technology. The primary issue is that adults and children that are often bullied in person are now being attacked online as well. Even though the act of bullying is through a computer, the effects are still similar to offline bullying. “These acts are designed to threaten, embarrass, or humiliate youth” (Par. 4).
