Mali was an Islamic kingdom during the Middle Ages in West Africa. This was caused by Principle of Culture 9 (“Culture is changed by inside and outside forces.”) This was because outside forces or traders would come to trade and tell them about Islamic ways. An inside force that changed them was a king named Mansa Musa who was the first king to push Islam and its culture in Mali. Mali was Islamic because the people of Mali valued the religion and Mali was influenced by Islamic architecture and arts.

During the Abbasid Caliphate, the Islamic Empire contributed greatly, offering many genius inventions and changes that altered the world in which they knew before. This period of flourishment, known now as 750-1258, was described as the ‘Jewel of the World’ and this said statement is most certainly true. These people enjoyed refinement and had a lavish way of life, even walking on paved roads. To put this to perspective, other parts of the world still walked on muddy alleyways at the time. The Muslim people were responsible for many influential accomplishments, offering the Islamic countries an immense amount of cultural advancements in areas such as knowledge and science, art, and economy.
Muslim empires in the Middle East governed throughout all the known land and were very powerful. Two such empires are the Safavids and the Ottoman. While those two Muslim empires and had similar aspects, they also had very different interpretations of those aspects that made them different from one another. These two distinct societies both differed and resembled one another.
As Anatolia shifted from Byzantine to Turkish rule, it engaged in more violent pursuits that reinforced its agenda and policies. Anatolia was a burgeoning place for trade due to its geography. There were lots of roads, trade routes, and natural resources, which the Byzantine Anatolians took advantage of. The transition from Christianity to Islam may have contributed to the drastic change in the Anatolians’ behavior, from active traders to bellicose invaders. When Anatolia was part of the Byzantine Empire, Christianity was the main religion ---people would garden and focus their energy on artistic and agricultural vocations.

Safavid Empire Origins Religious and Political The Safavid Empire was founded in Iran by Safi-ad-din Ardabili in 1301 when he became leader of the Zahediya. The Zahediya was a Sufi order, and, due to Safi-ad-din Arbabili’s popularity, the name of the order was changed to the Safaviyya Order. The Order was primarily Sunni at the time. Sufi is a form of Islamic mysticism.

The Islamic Worldview Origin The Quran 2:29 states, “It is He who created for you everything on earth”. Islam believes in one God (Allah) who created everything, forming man out of dust and breathing life into him (Beliefs). The dust that Adam was made from was collected from earth by angels. Adam and Eve were both created in Paradise but disobeyed God, were forgiven, and then sent to earth to live (Origins of the Universe).
Ask many in America today, and they will tell you that Islam is a violent religion of hatred and terrorism. However, even a glance at the Qu’ran proves otherwise. The Qu’ran, or what is basically the essence of the Islam religion, explicitly demonstrates ideas of both acceptance and peace throughout its teachings. Contrary to common American beliefs, the Qu’ran actually not only acknowledges, but equates followers of the other two major religions with the Muslim people by stating that “those who believe, and the Jews, and the Sabians, and the Christians—whoever believes in God and the Last Day, and does what is right—they have nothing to fear, nor shall they grieve.”
The modern political world has come to the point where people classify arguments or opinions as either good or bad. This classification has caused deep divides and has influenced politics through having, for example, two major political parties. People have created the mindset that there is an either or, but no in between because it just makes it easier when determining if an opinion or argument is good or bad, such as in the case with Islam. These arguments that present the modern political world as divided between “the West” as opposed to “Islam” are political strategies. They cause a further divide in order to support each side’s respective political agendas, but are a result of ignorance on each side because they fail to recognize the arguments
