Isuzu Australia Limited (IAL) is responsible for the marketing and distribution of Isuzu trucks in Australia. With just 65 employees, IAL depends on its national dealer network to maintain its market position. In the past, all information was distributed to dealers manually, which was expensive, time consuming, and prone to errors. The company became aware that is was using a manual, outdated method to disseminate information to its truck dealerships often consuming great amounts of time and monetary resources to do so. Through careful research and analysis, the company determined a way to improve information issuance, remove errors, and significantly reduce the amount of resource being used and exploited. To alleviate the strain of continuously tapping into resources to support its manual methods of propagating information, IAL turned to IBM WebSphere Portal and IBM Workplace Web Content Management software that provided enterprise web portals that assisted companies with …show more content…

The company implemented a more modern portal content management system in order to better collaborate and share knowledge both internally and externally to make quicker, more cost-effective decisions in distribution and marketing. Since its implementation in 2006, IAL has seen major cost savings, reduced errors, and faster, more efficient communication. Collaboration and knowledge sharing have also increased throughout the company with use of the new wiki capability. It would appear the benefits outweighed the costs.
