From 1978 to 1991 Jeffrey Dahmer raped, killed, and performed dismemberment and necrophilia on the dead bodies of seventeen men. It all originated from a messed up early life in high school where he developed a serious drinking problem. His first murder happened in 1978 when he was eighteen years old. His first victim’s name was Steven Hicks, who he killed while his father was away on a business trip. He had the house to himself so he found Hicks hitchhiking for a ride, when he offered him to come back to Dahmer’s place.

As a child, his mother and father were always arguing with people and his mother never gave him the attention he needed (This was NOT the reason why he killed people). One horrible thing he experienced in his life is that he got sexually abused by his neighbor when he was 8 years old (Again, this was not the reason he killed people). He was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD), schizotypal personality disorder (StPD), and a psychotic disorder and I think he was never cured (I think the psychotic disorder was the reason he killed people). He also underwent a double hernia at age 4.
Around the time of his first murder, Dahmer’s drinking became excessive resulting in him dropping out after one semester at Ohio State University. Soon after his father urged him to join the military. Dahmer enlisted in late December of 1978 and was placed in Germany, the killing stagnated but the drinking persisted, in 1981 the Army discharged Dahmer do to his uncontrollable drinking (Biography). Dahmer spent the six years following living with his grandmother in West Allis, Wisconsin where he continued drinking heavily causing often run ins with the police

Born May 21st, 1960, he was known as a happy and energetic boy in his early childhood. He was the first-born son of his parents Joyce and Lionel Dahmer, and they lived in Milwaukee. Still, when Jeffery was two, (Murderous Minds 2019) they moved from Wisconsin to Iowa because his father was offered an opening at Iowa State University to study for his Ph.D. At age four Jeff was diagnosed with pneumonia, an ear infection, and required surgery for a hernia and that’s when changes were seen within him, in a negative light.
Chronic stressors have the most influence on Dahmer’s childhood. It started even before he was born. His mother, Joyce, was depressed and bipolar during her pregnancy. His father, Lionel, spent most his days in his lab and away from everyone. Once Dahmer is born, neither one of his parents showed him they loved him.
As a child Dahmer was reserved. He had little friends. The friends he did have would go find dead carcasses on the side of the road with Dahmer. They would dismember said carcasses and staple their parts to trees in the middle of the woods.
Jeffrey Dahmer was a notorious serial killer who liked to pick up men in bars telling them he was a photographer and he wanted to take their picture. Once at his place he would offer alcohol and drug them so they could not get away. Dahmer was a sadistic sexual serial killer who liked to have control over his victims even after they were dead. Dahmer who would dismember his victims’ bodies often saving their skulls or other body parts also practiced necrophilia and cannibalism.
