In the John Deere 2016 Global Citizenship Report titled “A Power for Good,” our company emphasizes on tactics that we are striving for to create a responsible citizenship in our surrounding communities and worldwide. In this year’s report, we focus on four approaches John Deere continues to face in order to design a power for good. • Philanthropy and Volunteerism • Environment • Safety • Employee Experience We are loyal when serving our customers and employees. These impacts include reducing energy and water 15% per ton, along with recycling 75% of total waste from our facilities. In addition to the life cycle analysis, we consider raw materials, manufacturing, use, and recycling as ways to balance the environment. The combination of heat and power will reduce the amount of greenhouse gases by 50 percent. Furthermore, small changes make a big impact to our company. In that case, water conservation is our top priority. For example, John Deere uses a water-purification system to clean filters and flush toilets rather than disposing. The John Deere facilities was recognized as the world’s safest workplace in 2016. However, during the 2015 fiscal year, a majority of John Deere’s locations went without a lost-time injury. This allowed John Deere to reached the 30th year of improving ergonomics. With that being said, our company continues to find solutions to the physical motions that ae leading to workplace injuries. In addition, to avoid these injuries, John Deere strictly puts the idea of teamwork first which often helps avoid unintentional injuries. What is most beneficial in preventing such injuries and becoming safe is the Safety and Ergonomic Risk Assessment (SERA). The SERA helps workers within our company identify safety issues.
