I chose to write about John F. Kennedy using the his “Civil Rights Address” as my primary source. By writing this paper I hope to prove how JFK helped the civil rights movement even though his term was cut short. I’m hoping I can prove that during his term he accomplished something for this movement that had a lasting effect. Civil rights was and still is a big deal in America and I hope to find out about his contribution to that effort.

The Civil rights movement began for African-Americas to end racial segregation and discrimination. A movement that would take years, lives and pride of many to make each African-American equal to white men. Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King go down in history for becoming the lead voice of the civil rights movement. Rosa Parks was arrest for non-compliance with bus segregation laws, although it was a seat she has paid for. It was known for black women to sit in the back of the bus and to give up their seat for white women/men.
The Civil Rights Movement inspired racial harmony between blacks and whites in America. The Movement was led by many leaders and activists. Some of the biggest leaders/activists were Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. They both had different philosophies on how to earn freedom and civil rights. The big question is whose philosophy was better in the 1960s. Martin Luther King believed that blacks and whites should join together as one country, but the only way to achieve that was through nonviolence.
The main protagonist of the novel, Tom Joad, is known in story as a man with no regret. Although he had murdered a man and spent many years in prison, he showed no regret as he rarely brought up his past. Instead, he worries about his current problems and the issues his family is facing. Although he seems certain in his actions he does exhibit inner moral conflict as he soon found himself learning that he can’t always act, such as when he is unable to get a job and support his family. This situation, taking place during the middle of the novel, forces him to learn to be able to reflect on his problems without taking action.
The Civil Rights Movement was a battle that lasted for 14 years from 1954 through 1968. Bryant and his half brother, Milam’s, decision to kill Emmett Till accidently helped people realize just how badly blacks were treated. During the civil rights movement, there was segregation in everywhere for instance restaurants,bathrooms, schools, water fountains, and public places. The peak of this movement was in the 1950s and 1960s where many important leaders emerged and events occurred.
The Civil Rights Movement was a variety of activism that Wanted to secure all political and social rights for African Americans in 1946-1968. It had many different approaches from lawsuits, lobbying the federal government, massdirect action, and black power. The high point of the Civil Rights Movement was a march at Washington to get "Freedom and Jobs" for all in 1963. The ending and main point of this helped African Americans better their living conditions, which also helped the U.S. economy, not including discrimination, racism, and segregation. There were many activists Nho are more respected than others; they brought change because of their boycotts and struggles.
For years, large groups of people have come together to oppose exciting ideas, encouraging the change of beliefs, and government approach. During the mid-1900’s the people of America called for a difference in humanity. The difference is the Civil Rights Movement. The Civil Rights Movement was a movement in which African Americans urged to have the same lives as that of the white Americans. Whether it is a way of human conflict or a way to survive the battle, this movement is an essential part of our society’s growth and expansion into a modern society.
Civil Rights Movement Many people take for granted not having to sit in different sides of the bus or being able to eat in the same restaurant and even walking on the sidewalk. African Americans before the Civil Rights movement were harassed or treated very disrespectfully by whites. Many Supreme Court cases concerning slavery or separation between blacks and whites helped America get closer and closer to were whites were able to understand that there not much different than blacks: (Dred Scott v. Sanford, Plessy v. Ferguson, Brown v. Board). Dred Scott was a African American that lived in the Illinois.
The civil rights movement was a movement that was started to go against segregation. During the civil rights movement there was multiple marches, protest, and many other things that individual or groups of people did to try and get equal rights for African Americans. One of the types of protest is called a sit-in. The sit-ins were mainly started by 4 african american students at a Greensboro lunch counter. At first the four students just wanted some lunch but when they went to go order they refused to serve them.

The movement was a series of protests, sit-ins, boycotts, marches, etc. all aiming for the same end goal: equality. African Americans were being segregated in schools, public areas, and even work. They were also not able to be politically active or have a position in government.
Civil Rights The Civil Rights Movement began when African Americans started speaking up because they were not being treated fairly. After the Civil War the 13th, 14th and, 15th amendments were supposed to guarantee equal rights for African Americans in the United States but that was not the case. There was a court case called the Plessy V. Ferguson. This court case didn’t help Blacks at all because the Supreme Court ruled in favor of it.
The Civil Rights Movement was a big part of blacks getting treated equally and having the same rights as everyone else. But even after slavery being abolished racism against blacks was still a thing and will forever be a thing. Civil rights was based on a struggle for social justice that took place mainly during the 1950s and 1960s for Black Americans to gain equal rights under the law in the United States. The reason the Civil Rights Movement started was because The Brown vs The board of education which overturned desegregated schools across the nation. Schools, especially in the South, were slow to comply, and attempts to register blacks often broke into violence.
The Civil Rights Movement was an ongoing fight for racial fairness that took place for over a hundred years after the Civil War. Martin Luther King, Jr., Booker T. Washington, and Rosa Parks led the battles that eventually made changes in the law. When most people talk about the Civil Rights Movement they are talking about the rallies in the 1950s and 1960s that led to the Civil Rights Act of 1964. In 1870, Americans likely would not have anticipated the need for the civil rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s.
