At the beginning of the story, Suzy has a hard time understanding why Leah does certain things or acts certain ways. She took candy over to the building in which the refugees were being held. She wrote in her diary that the kids swarmed over to the fence grabbing the candy bars as if they were in a zoo. Suzy also about the girl who was standing to the side during this staring at her. She explained that she thought is was creepy.
Suzy had brought the refugees apples, oranges, and candy bars. She sees how they react wildly when she gives them candy bars and does not know why. When the refugees arrive at school Suzy thinks about how hard it will be for them and is sympathetic towards them. Leah does not act like an animal and is one of the brightest refugees. When Leah receives assistance from Suzy she feels as though she is being treated as a pet, as if she were owned by another human being.
John Steinbeck’s novella Of Mice and Men, is a novella telling about life during the Great Depression and how people with certain traits and disabilities are regarded as the untouchables. Lennie Small a big guy with a small mind has a tendency to touch and feel objects he thinks that are soft and cuddly and cannot let go without some force. Lennie has a very close relationship with George and it could viewed as close relatives despite that they have nothing in common. Unfortunately, during the time, people like Lennie are regarded as stupid and are unable to function in life. Lennie has the characteristics of being an affectionate person while being a childish person at the same time.
Running away from a crime is never acceptable; Lennie ran away after committing the crime of killing Curley’s wife. A book called “Of Mice and Men,” written by John Steinbeck is about a long adventure with Lennie and George trying to fulfill their American dream. Their American dream was to own a farm, but it did not turn out the way they expected. George ends up shooting Lennie for the crime he had committed. George did make the right decision for killing Lennie because he is always ruining their chance to fulfill their American dream, causing trouble, and being harmful to the society.
Suzy thinks that she's creepy because she was staring at her when she had brought candy bars for the refugees. While Leah has almost the same opinion about Suzy. Leah thinks Suzy has come to the camp to laugh at the refugees and make fun of them. In the middle of the story, Suzy and Leah have to collaborate at school and Suzy says,"And she's so stuck up, she only talks in class to answer questions.
The woodlands by the ranch were peaceful, not alarmed by the breeze of death and sorrow that followed the men as they marched through the canvas of green. Alerted by the footsteps of the men, the rabbits scuttled back into their burrows. The trees swayed in the glistening sunlight that bounced between them, igniting the woodlands with light. It was quiet, but death intruded on this harmonious atmosphere. Laying in the arms of George, Lennie looked as calm and peaceful as a kitten cuddling its owner.
The book, The Trials of Kate Hope, is about a 14 year old girl that becomes a young lawyer who partner up with her grandfather. The author of this book is Wick Downing and the period of the setting happened in 1973. Kate gets a case about a dog, named Herman, that is going to be executed. Kate works on other trial cases as she gathers evidence for the Herman’s case. Along the way she experiences some difficulties with her friendships and life tasks.
In the book Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, Chapters one and two are about Lennie and George who Have arrived on the banks of the Salinas River in California looking for work. Two migrant workers named George and Lennie are looking for jobs during the great depression, but they can’t because Lennie keeps losing them due to the fact that he has special needs. George is a small, quick man with dark eyes; Lennie is actually completely different from George he is a naive, unintelligent mountain of a man who loves soft things (way to much). Lennie comes up to a pool of water and drinks; George yells at Lennie because the water is not so clean, but of course Lennie didn’t know and then asks George for some but he refuses. In the story “Of Mice and Men” we can see a really good relationship with Lennie and George they have been traveling together it seems that they appreciate each other. Lennie did a lot of trouble in the ranch he commit a crime and also he did bad action for example he killed the dog by accident and he also killed Curley’s wife which was a really bad crime after he killed Curley’s wife he left from the farm, George, Curley and other farmers were looking for him they wanted to kill him. George knew where Lennie was at when he was with Lennie George try to convince Lennie to go back to the farm he told him that no one was mad at him that he could return back to the ranch.
