This is what was examined in William Shakespeare's play, “The Tragedy of Julius Caesar”, where the title character is brutally killed by his allies and close friend Brutus after they decide that he would be a tyrannical leader, even though he has not shown definite proof that he would be anything less than a capable leader. The cautionary tale of Caesar shows what could happen to a person if their rise to power is marred by jealousy from another group, but even if the murder was able to be justified in the eyes of the conspirators, it was not in the eyes of the public. It was a stormy day in Rome and the conspirators knew today was the day to kill Caesar. Death is inevitable but I feel like in the story “The Tragedy of Julius Caesar” Brutus’ time was cut short. He died from being too egotistical and the way he treated the people of Rome. The American writer Mark Twain once said, “The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.” One reason Brutus died was from being egotistical.

The roman government would even provide hemlock, a highly poisonous plant, to the person who craves death.
