Kendrick Lamar was born on Compton California June 17, 1987. Kendrick was a child writing stories about his life and soon change his writing into music lyrics about how rough the lifestyle he lived throughout his whole life. He started rapping at 16 and used the name K Dot but after a while he change it back to his original name. He was releasing multiple popular mixtapes since 2003. He debut his first album in 2011 called “Section 80”. His music is not about the drugs and violence to be promoted like other mainstream rappers. His music is more about escaping that life and bettering ourselves. He wants to express and share his experience that it's not impossible to escape this lifestyle and pursuit a career. He wants to leave an impact for the young kids with his music and leave a legacy behind when he is done with his career. His father was part of a gang name Gangster Disciples gang during 1980’s. Kendrick was more of an observer than him participating the gang activities in Compton. The family and friends he mostly associated with in his life were the piru gang members as well known as the Bloods. Family and friends always knew he had potential to become something outside this city. That’s how Kendrick Lamar got influence to send a positive message. Someone outside the violent and gang life must understand why they do certain things and why is not easy to escape this lifestyle.
