Being directors of a center bring a lot of responsibilities because they are in charge of supervising that everything works well at the center to offer the best environment to the toddlers and preschoolers. It is not an easy job. The directors spend their times watching that everything will be fine there including the teachers, parents, children and the place. They are worried when any problem comes up, and then sometimes they need to find a quick solution to the problem to avoid consequences in the future. I interviewed Maria Rodriguez who is in charge of the preschoolers and Mary Ruelas who is in charge of the toddlers. They both work at LA Daycare Center. The ninth is about maintenance in the center, they told that they have their own staff one that cleans outside, and the other does an inside building maintenance. The tenth refers to the events in the community; they said that not all the staff assists on community events, staff take turns or administration attend and train staff. The last two questions look similar because it is about hire people, moreover; the eleventh is about the requirements, and the directors coincide that a teacher should have a teacher permit, clear background, some experience, and good references. The last one refers to high education and why it is important; the director for preschoolers said that a higher education is important because it shows that a teacher is knowledgeable and is able to grasp thing easier and has the capability to learn more, and the director for toddlers told that high education in her staff is required. Teachers need to have a BA to work in the Early Head Start Program. They start looking the application and the background of the people who apply for any position in the center. If people have the qualification, they are hiring and receive an orientation when they sign their contract. However, people start with a three months period of evaluation to adapt and know the routines in the center. They receive a specific schedule and the place where they work. They do not receive benefits until the three months passes, and the supervisor analyzes if they are able to do their jobs. After that time, they start receiving the benefits that employees have as full or part time job. The full-time employees have more benefits than part-time employees. According to The Salvation Army Western Territory Handbook for Employees 2010 said that “A full-time employee is an individual (…) work of at least 30 hours (…) for all local benefits such as sick leave, vacation, Christmas bonus, paid holidays, health and dental insurances, etc. (…) as any government mandated benefit (…). Any further local benefits will be discussed at the time of hire” (p. 9,10). In other words, full-time employees are supported to local laws and receive 100% benefits. In the other hand, the part-time employees who work less than 30 hours have less than 50% benefits that the full-time employees receive. I see a big gap between a full-time employee and the part-time employee. The handbook
