After the attending the LBGTQI: Creating a safe and inclusive environment seminar I have a better grasp of how to accommodate members of the community so that they feel comfortable and accepted. The skills I learned in this seminar correspond greatly with my career path as a business major. My plan is to graduate from the University of Central Florida in 2020 with a grade point average higher than 3.0 then soon after join the United States Army server four years where I plan become a management analysts and planner. Then after my service I plan to join a company similar to my fathers (Staples) and work my way up to Regional Sales Manager. As a regional sales manager coordinating and communicating with people over state lines is very important and I think fits into restorative strength highlighted in my strength quest test. A restorative person is someone who is adept at dealing with problems and are good at figuring out what is wrong and resolving it. This skill can help me deal with the task of managing multiple sales teams. Similar to in the military being able understand where people are coming from along with their back ground is very important. There are members of the LBGTQI community in the armed forces, respecting and accepting their life style is pivotal to completing the tasks at hand as a unit. I think that my restorative strength and problem solving skills play a big role in military service. The job I chose applies a lot to my career choice as a regional sales manager because it incorporates a lot of the same skills. The restorative strength explains in my strengths insight print out “It’s very likely that you traditionally consider better ways to make strangers or newcomers feel welcome. You are likely to help them fit in and realize they are no longer outsiders.” Which I feel speaks to me a lot cause in my military and business career being able to help people fit in and feel welcome is key to success my …show more content…
This seminar has taught me a lot about what the LBGTQI community stands for and knowing this ties in with my social goals because you never know if your next best friend could be a part of the LBGTQI community. Knowing how to address them and be conscientious is crucial to forging a connection with anyone let alone so one the LBGTQI community. After I leave the military I plan to settle down back I my home town hopfully near some of the friends I meet over the next couple of year ideally by late
