Gambling is a very controversial subject in the state of Texas. Currently, 30 states allow legal gambling and are making a ton of money off of it. Texas is still lagging behind along with nineteen other states. Legalizing gambling would boost the economy, create jobs, and create a safer environment for players. There is over three billion dollars a year being spent in other states on gambling, all by Texas residents. Gambling is going to happen whether people like it or not, but if legalized, this industry can do great things for the state. Many people are for this movement and are surprised that it hasn't already happened.
Gambling happens illegally every day in Texas. A lot of this gambling occurs online or on a much smaller level in person. This is a very unsafe environment that is often full of fraud and scams. These sites often have skewed odds or just never pay out. On a much smaller level, students often create gambling rings in high schools or colleges. These gambling teens can seem like a bunch of friends just having a little fun, but this kind of activity can soon lead to so much more. Regulations will be created to stop the shady dealings from occurring. Websites will be balanced, safe, and trusted. These regulations and ideas will help create a better image and standard for the gambling community. There have been multiple injuries, kidnappings, robberies, and fatalities linked to this dark underground scene. Fear tactics are common in this scene due to the fact that they can't receive legal help if they owe money. People often pay with their lives or work their whole lives to pay them back. People are making illegitimate money off of this scene and are living tax free under the radar. Regulating this scene will make the community much nicer and accessible for people already in the gambling scene and those just getting into
