Introduction: Leonardo da Vinci had an interesting life and was a leading person of the Italian Renaissance (Biography). He is mainly known for his famous works The Last Supper and the Mona Lisa (Biography). Da Vinci was born in 1452 in Anchiano, Tuscany, which is now Italy, close to the town of Vinci, which gave the name we call him by today (History). Leonardo da Vinci was a painter, sculptor, inventor, architect, military engineer, and draftsman - he was a “Renaissance man” (Biography). Leonardo da Vinci’s father, an attorney and notary, and his peasant mother never got married to each other and da Vinci was the only child they ever had (History).

This made Da Vinci scared for his life (Palermo). Soon after he was released, da Vinci left for Milan (Palermo). After abandoning his patrons in Florence, da Vinci needed to start a new business (Palermo). Da Vinci was interested in more than just art (History). He also studied mechanics, nature, physics, anatomy, weaponry, and architecture (History). It’s possible that da Vinci has a lot of unfinished projects because of his many interests (History). Leonardo spent seventeen years in Milan, until Ludovico fell from power (Heydenreich). Da Vinci was listed as pictor et ingeniarius ducalis which means painter and engineer of the duke (Heydenreich). Under Sforza, da Vinci was supposed to make what would have been one of the best creations of his artistic career (Palermo). It was a giant bronze statue of a warhorse (Palermo). They abandoned the project when the french attacked Italy at the end 15th century (Palermo). A giant warhorse wasn’t all that da Vinci had planned for the Duke (Palermo). Da Vinci also is said to have created a flying machine, however, there is no evidence either of these war machines were ever created
