Leonardo Da Vinci was a famous artist during the time period known as the Renaissance. During this era, there was a “rebirth” of the arts throughout Europe. Da Vinci was born in 1452 in present-day Italy and raised by his father and stepmother. His education was limited to basics of math and language. During Leonardo Da Vinci’s early teen years he worked as an apprentice with a famous artist. It was then that he learned most of his skills. After his apprenticeship, he began work on his own at the age of twenty while still working with his former teacher. After approximately five years Da Vinci began working solo without the help of his mentor. However, after agreeing to paint several pieces he abandoned the tasks and fled the city. As an artist, Leonardo Da Vinci is known for his techniques to create a three dimensional look to his paintings and his methods of eliminating harsh borders from his work. \ …show more content…

The Mona Lisa was created during the early 1500s with oil paintings on a wood canvas. The painting is composed of a dark haired woman and a landscape behind her. The work is currently located in the Louvre Museum in Paris. Similarly, The Last Supper was created in 1495 and is also considered one of Da Vinci’s most famous work. The painting shows Christ with his twelve disciples eating their final meal before he is murdered by on of them. Throughout the years, Da Vinci’s original painting has aged and has been repaired several times. However, the painting that exists today is not Da Vinci’s work. The mural was copied by a different artist and only a small percent of the real one exists
