Dr. Linda Anderson has been working in education for over 40 years, and has been in a leadership position for over 30 years. Dr. Anderson is the CTE director for Birdville ISD and serves as the principal of the Birdville Center of Technology and Advanced Learning. Dr. Anderson is very passionate about career and technology education, and has the knowledge and experience of what it takes to be an effective leader. Furthermore, Dr. Anderson knows and understands what a campus needs to be successful and create a positive learning environment for students. Dr. Anderson believes that the staff of BCTAL has everything to do with the student success. The attitude of teachers, their willingness, and their ability to go above and beyond gives students opportunities to be successful and achieve. Our students at BCTAL compete in numerous student organizations and win medals not only on the district or regional level, but at the state and national level. The amount of time a teacher spends with a student to prepare them for state or national competition, shows how much they care about the success of their students. Teachers also leave an impact on students by how they present themselves in the classroom. For example, Dr. Anderson strongly believes in presenting yourself in a professional manner and that includes the clothes that you wear. Professional dress is required Monday through Friday at BCTAL and it’s about the image Dr. Anderson wants to portray to the students of BCTAL. The planning of professional development is key to informing staff of district goals and initiatives. Dr. Anderson is very team orientated and trusts her staff to make professional development effective learning days, and CTE teachers can bring something back to their classroom to improve the student environment. At BCTAL, the Leaders of Learners team is responsible for creating an in-service day that beneficial and effective for all everyone. The LOL team, which I am part of, takes the lead in creating activities for educators and helps roll out new district initiatives or ideas to staff. When it comes to board policy, Dr. Anderson feels that it does affect how business is done in the district and it is critical to follow board policy. There are many things written in board policy that we do on campus, that we do not even realize such as how and when we open school in the morning. However, unless there is a crisis or a serious issue that needs to be addressed, Dr. Anderson is not turning to board policy on day to day matters.
