Gentlemen of the jury, the people of Fall River have been entranced with the case from the moment they found out Andrew and Abby Borden were brutally killed. As soon as people heard about the killings of Mr. and Mrs. Borden, they immediately began speculating as to who could have committed these heinous acts. Throughout the trial, all of the facts presented have pointed back to Lizzie. It has always been a known fact that Lizzie has resented Abby her entire life, her alibi isn’t in agreement with other evidence, and how void she is of emotion is truly telling on her character. This was partly because there had been reports of the murderer laying in the hay of the barn, along with waiting there instead of inside the house. Based on stories from the housemaid and the police being able to depict when people were at the home, which was concluded by appointments, “Lizzie was the only individual in the house between 9:30 and 10:45. Lizzie testified that she saw no one and heard nothing.” (Mock 6). Police have given a detailed timeline of where mounds of incriminating evidence against Lizzie Borden are located. Since the case was a nationwide tragedy, the police and people from all over writing pieces on this once-in-a-century case heavily rely on logos to logically determine the means, and motives, and produce distinct timelines that ultimately lead to Lizzie's arrest and now trial. What would Lizzie gain from lying about where she was and what was she hiding?
