Ms. Stevens and her child, Tjayda Stevens are receiving preventive services with Harlem Dowling Westside Center for Children and Family Services (HDWC). Ms. Stevens’ case was referred from ACS and accepted thru HDWC on 03/02/2015. The services provided to Ms. Stevens are casework counseling, community advocacy, housing advocacy, and monthly home based visits to ensure stable family functioning and child safety. Ms. Stevens has been receptive to services since the agency obtained case planning responsibility. Administration for Children’s Services recommended the following service plan for Ms. Stevens to complete parenting and anger management class, individual counseling, and domestic violence.
We need assistance in pursuing allegations/charges against the State of Tennessee, Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, Cane Ridge High School , specific staff of Cane Ridge High School, and possibly by officers of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. We are seeking to have the law changed, guidelines changed, policies changed, etc. to ensure that all students and guardians do not ever have to go through the living "hell" we have been put through again. The reason of why Hazel took the non-paying job at New Hope School in Boise City was because she felt bad about the school not getting the proper support that the school needs in order to run smoothly. Another reason of why New Hope School was broken and couldn’t pay the teachers was because the farmers had stop paying taxes which led the school to go bankrupt without no support from the government nor the president. Gisselle Zepeda Mr. Lievre American Government Credit 5 Board of Education of Westside Community Schools Versus Mergens The Equal Access Act upheld by the Supreme Court in Board of Education v. Mergens, 1990, requires public secondary schools to allow access to religiously based student groups on the same basis as other student clubs. The school administration denied a group of students their right to create a Christian after school club. The students intended for their club to have just the same privileges and club meetings as all other after school clubs. The schools excuse being that it lacked faculty support which led to the school and district being sued by the students.
Once Hazel entered the program, she begin working with DHR and Secure Dwellings to develop a plan for her to get her child back. Hazel’s son is now back with her and his youngest brother, a family reunited because of the stability the program afford her. We are currently assisting Hazel and DHR with getting Hazel permanent housing and employment in Birmingham. If everything continues to progress, Hazel will be in her own place by or before the date of this board meeting.
The reporting party (RP) stated the foster mother Candace Coleman gave a seven day notice on foster child Joshua Laney DOB: 3/22/07, DOP: 5/12/16 after meeting with the child 's biological father on 6/17/16 (name of father not provided). The RP stated on 6/22/16 the foster mother brought the child to the DCFS office alone with all his belonging and informed the RP that she was going out of town. The foster mother informed the RP the child could return to the home if other placement was unavailable. The child was placed in at Leroy Hines 233 Baseline Rd, Lavern 91750 which is a 30 day temporary
Big Brothers Big Sisters is an organization that tries to impact the youth across the country by giving them a positive role model that helps guide them in the right direction. In their mission, Big Brothers Big Sisters states that it is their goal to “provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationship that change their lives for the better, forever.” A child who participates in the program is called a “little” and they are given a “big”, and this “big” is supposed to influence their life in a positive way by creating a strong and lasting support system. It is important for children in low socioeconomic environments and single parent homes to have someone to encourage their passions

The purpose of this study to identify a preventive notion to improve high school graduation rates among children in foster care. An innovative therapeutic mentoring program that will not only decrease the chances of foster youth dropping out of high school, but it will also increase the chances of them furthering their education. According to the Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System there are over 400,000 children in foster care (AFCARS, 2010). The high school graduation rate among youth in foster care is relatively low, and youth in foster care are less likely to graduate from high school compared to their peers (Day, et al., 2012).
On August 2, 2013, I’Tesha C. Briggs three children were removed from her home and placed in emergency protective custody with the South Carolina Department of Social Services over allegations that she had abused them. According to the placement plan, Briggs was ordered to complete a psychological evaluation, counseling, obtain a stable home and income and complete drug and alcohol assessment. DSS was to provide the counseling and evaluation
Focused Therapy for youth and family therapy. At this time youth participates in treatment and he also look forward to meeting Dr. Hubbard once a week. Action: Benny and the resource parents are both receiving weekly services through Dr. Hubbard, LCSW. Dr. Hubbard services are contracted through DCP&P. Education: Benny attends South Amboy Elementary School in South Amboy. He was in the 2nd grade regular education.
1. Introduction In child care centre, there are a lot of elements in caring for the children and one of the most basic and important element is to ensure their safety and well-being. As a child care teacher, I am responsible to highlight on good practices and look into the physical environment and safety factors to provide a safe and nurturing environment for the children. Hence, child care teachers have to be well-equipped with the skills and knowledge in areas of health, safety and nutrition.
This child kept crying even after they nurses gave them medicine for pain. The nurses were concerned about the child always crying and called the social worker to come talk to the parents about the situations. I have tested my interest at Gateway Children’s Advocacy Center under Diane Rodgers. I loved volunteering at Gateway, it’s showing me the bad and the good side of social work. Gateway also helped point me in the direction of where I want to go in the social work
