I am most attracted to Loma Linda University’s mission to make man whole and continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ and its commitment to faith and science. As a Seventh-day Adventist christian, the motto to make man whole has never been more personal than it is now. As I grow in my experience as a christian, to further the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus continues to take center stage. This mission and an understanding of the need for whole person care is something I seek to demonstrate and encourage through my profession as a nurse and involvement in my community.
Grant Grubbs Mise-en-scene in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (Forman, 1975) is a good film with an even more interesting mise-en-scene. I noticed many things throughout the film relating to the arrangement of scenery and stage props. For starters, RP McMurphy always wore apparel that opposed the other inmates’ dull white uniforms (see image to the right). The clothes he chooses to wear appear normal, as if he weren’t locked up in an asylum. It seems that he believes he shouldn’t be wearing the white uniforms that other patients wear because he isn’t insane and that he wouldn’t stoop to the level of adhering to the policy.

Alabama School of Mathematics and Science is a riveting high school that I would love to become a student of. I know that ASMS would greatly prepare me for my future. I wish to attend college and medical school to become a psychiatrist, and ASMS would ready me for the hardships of both. It would also give me the chance to explore my options to see if that really is the path I wish to follow for my career.
Being a leader is something that has always been emphasized in my day-to-day life. However, it was not until recent years that I realized how closely the younger generation truly paid attention to my actions. I have also been granted the opportunity to be involved with several outreach programs with my districts grade school.

Growing up with a single mother showed me the realities and challenges of having to support a family- especially with no college degree. Furthermore, nobody in my family has ever attended college. Even when my Mom remarried, my step-dad’s education was limited, due to being a high school dropout. There was no path for me to follow, so I know I have to be the one to forge my own path in education. I am inspired to do what my parents were unable to do.
