Child Abuse Child abuse and neglect usually goes down with age. A huge issue is the mandatory reporting law of child abuse. There is a lack of knowledge as far as if welfare is associated with re abuse and the risks that has to deal with it. Child abuse can be a variety of things done by a parent or care giver. IT could be something done through actions, or the failure to act that causes harm, physically and emotional and also death. Even neglect is considered child abuse. According to kid’s health, about 1 million children are abused every year just in the United States. (Kids Health 2015). Child abuse can be physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, abandonment, emotional and physiological. The most serious case of child abuse can easily lead to death. Medical professionals are being taught on how to better read the signs of child abuse and neglect. A medical professional is required to inform authorities if child abuse is apparent in a child. Asthma, diabetes, cerebral palsy, sickle cell anemia and many more. Asthma is the most common chronic disease in children. Asthma affects more than 7 million children and attributes to over 14 million days of missed education as of 2008. (Maternal and Child Health 1997). This is continuing to grow amongst the low income and colored children. And with the United States being the fattest country in the world, that is not helping at all. Obesity greatly increases the odds of having asthma. And when children are obese at a young age, they usually tend to be obese as they grow up as well. We have to step up our game and take care of our children. They are the ones who are going to take care of you and I in the future. Together let’s stop child abuse and neglect. This will help reduce the number of chronic illnesses
