The first and most important information that should be given to learners is the awarding body criteria, which will show them exactly what they will be assessed on and the tasks they will need to cover in order to achieve their qualification.
The next information that learners need to have is the assessment plans and schedules which should be prepared and made available for them. Assessment plans will cover the unit schedules and will identify what assessments are intended to be carried out and when they should be completed. The assessment plant must be brief and clear and set out exactly how the assessor will collect the evidence to meet the criteria. Plans should be SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely) meaning

This will help learners to understand exactly what’s expected from them, have clear understanding of the assessment criteria and realise what they have to do. It will also allow them to prepare themselves better for the assessment, perform to the best of their ability and improve their motivation.
Transferring some of the ownership of the assessment process to them will increase their motivation and engagement in completing the assessment. In doing so learners will be encouraged to learn more deeply, building up their understanding, rather than just their knowledge of the facts, as well as choosing their method of learning to achieve the qualification.
Involving the learners into the assessment process will give them a greater confidence in the assessment method and the assessor’s judgement. Learners will give productivity on assessment plans making work more manageable
We need to make sure that the learners are motivated and tell them to take responsibility for the assignment as opposed to just doing the assignment dogmatically and handing out instruction to them to do exactly what we have laid out. The learners take responsibility and ownership of their work which in turn made it an engaging project for

A good starting point would be having the learner do a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats to learning) analysis of themselves. This allows them to find areas to improve at and be aware of any factors that may delay their learning journey. Self assess is also evaluating the criteria so they can see if they've met all of the end results. This allows them to determine whether they've met the criteria or need to make additional changes. The learner will only be able to self assess against the criteria if they fully understand what is required from
