I have set going to dental school as a primary goal after graduating. My goal is to eventually obtain a D.D.S (Doctor of Dentist Surgery) degree. Working towards a specialty is an interest that I am very curious in pursuing; however, as of now becoming a general dentist is my main goal. As I think of the University of Mississippi, the aspect that most impresses me, and is an addition to my desire to immerse myself in this prominent learning community is the University's outstanding resources. I am very attracted to the opportunity to explore and learn at the University of Mississippi's science departments. Science has been my academic passion ever since I entered middle school. Since then, I have always wanted to get into the medical field to become a neurologist. I believe the brain is a black box with endless mysteries waiting to be explored.
I come from a lower, middle class family. Both of my parents are employed full time but do not make enough income to supply the $20,000 it takes to attend Missouri State. They have always encouraged me to want more for myself, both in my career and in my life in general. Although I am still deciding on a major, I know that I want to make enough money to live comfortably and be able to provide for my family.
I regard the STEM Academy as an extremely positive program that will significantly help my peers and myself in the future. Science has many stimulating topics that have helped our world to advance. The STEM program will definitely push me towards the science aspects of life, allowing me to become more educated in the subject. I hope to be able to join the STEM academy to gain more knowledge in the fields of science and math, to be able to collaborate with others more efficiently, work independently, and to be triumphant in being the best student I can. I want to achieve beyond what is expected in an average student and expand on all my skills.
The majority of my life has been spent placing critical life events and accomplishments onto a timeline. For instance, it has been twenty-one years since I first wrapped my teddy bears in bandages and diagnosed their illnesses. It has been eleven years since I decided to become a nurse. It has been seven years since I was first admitted to Texas A&M University and struggled with the pressures of doing well in college while balancing a personal and family life. It has been almost three years since I last stepped foot on Texas A&M soil.

My interest for The University of Texas derives from my interest in the Architecture program. The past summer I had the opportunity to participate in the Architecture Academy at the University of Texas and the overall experience solidified my interest in Architecture and the overall University. I appreciated the sense of being able to have a small college in a rather large school. I enjoyed exploring Austin’s culture and I was drawn to the art and music of the City.
Box 1 – The College of Liberal Arts at Temple has been a great conduit for providing opportunities for my intellectual and professional development. First and foremost, I feel extremely privileged to be part of Temple’s CLA Honors Program due the outstanding faculty, both teaching and administrative. I again feel lucky to have been exposed to several fantastic clubs and organizations, such as the Temple Economics and Political Science societies, that pertain to my fields of study. I’ve also been afforded possibilities to attend lectures given by prominent academics and scholars, in particular the talks given by Professor Joseph Schwartz on political theory. Learning from the exceptional professors and commingling and collaborating with other

Going forward a liberal arts education will be key for me to attain my goals. Specifically a Hollins liberal arts education. I am interested in pursuing pre-law, creative writing, art, and equine studies. At a typical technical based studies program I would be unable to study and learn what I 'm passionate about. It has been said that if you choose a job you love you will never have to work another day, and I fully intend to live my life with zeal doing what I love and am truly passionate about, and a liberal arts education will help me achieve that.
