Kevin moved in across the street from Max the summer before 8th grade. Max had given up on friends by this point. They eventually become friends. They had different personalities, but that made them perfect for each other. Kevin and Max were different but the same and made up freak the mighty.
It is a well thought out book that runs smoothly through its deluxe plot. In a good way, it seems to always have a plot twist right after the next. Even the ending keeps you into the book. The book leads off with a teenage boy stuck in an elevator.

At points it gets boring but Katie Alender the author always gives back with a lot of action. Alexis is overwhelmed with many problems in the book but she solves them all with perseverance and bravery. You can understand all the problems and ways teens work
No one should ever judge another based on appearance because, who knows, they might end up being your best friend. In Freak the Mighty, a realistic fiction story written by Rodman Philbrick, two boys who couldn’t be more different than each other begin an unbreakable friendship. Max, who is very large and has learning disabilities, meets Kevin, or Freak, who is highly intelligent, but has Morquio Syndrome, which causes him to be small. Together, they are Freak the Mighty, and they try to help others at all times, including each other. There are two themes that can be taken away from this novel.
I would highly recommend this book to any fourth grader or anyone who loves books with page turners, because in every chapter, the last paragraph will always end with something that you want to know more about. In my opinion, I really enjoyed this book
