A little over two years ago, I started working as a Community Support Individual for Pathways Transition Programs LLC. My primary responsibility is to teach children various coping skills to manage their behavior, I have determined that I want to be able to address the emotions behind the behaviors. My desire is to be able to help the children I work with come to terms with their past histories so they can move on in their lives towards adoption and other positive outcomes. Sometimes, the children are still going through issues such as, on-going traumas, the lost of a parent due to death or incarceration, etc and I would like to develop the skill set to be able to address these issues. I see pursuing my degree through Argosy University as being the next step to take in order to develop a competency in counseling.
Following, being a corporate strategic communicator for an advertising and marketing firm would be my start-up career. After obtaining years of work experience, I would aspire to become a director of communications for a B-2-C organization. Following the end of my career after obtaining my Ph.D., becoming a college-level educator, using innovative, creative and hands-on methods of
As an aspiring Communications major, I'm eager to unlock the potential in myself to create a more connected world. As for a specific career choice post-graduation, I envision myself pursuing a career in marketing for a company that holds these same values. One that prioritizes not just profit, but also positive social impact. Marketing for such an organization would allow me to combine my passion for clear communication with the strategic power of advertising to create campaigns that hold a deeper purpose. The world craves authentic connections, and companies that prioritize social good and not just financial success are the ones that will truly resonate with consumers.
I became a school counselor simply because I wanted to live a life of meaning and be a force for good in the world. Throughout life, having real and honest conversations that support growth, positive change, and owning responsibility are critical to self-actualization. I want to empower my students to give their best effort in all areas of life, not just their education. I believe that simple encouragement in this type of environment is the key to positive change, and I wanted to dedicate my professional life to reflect that belief. I whole-heartly believe in the holistic approached to a balanced and fulfilling life and being a school counselor is a unique career that fulfills this value.
Mission Statement: To empower with knowledge through critical thinking, ethical reasoning, social and cultural awareness. Vision: To create a diverse and inclusive student body that is committed to community and peer collaboration. Overview: The purpose of the Each One Reach One Peer mentoring program is to enhance the student experience to college life by fostering an environment for emotional, academic, and social support. Our peer mentors/tutors are here to help you navigate and connect with resources at the Borough of Manhattan Community College. Often students are more at ease to converse with their fellow classmates than with a staff.
On Monday, both Mr. Levine and our paralegal were gone, so it was just my on-site mentor, her husband (who was recruited to help out), and me in the office. For a large portion of the day, I was on the computer and answering phone calls. The phones weren 't too crazy, thankfully. My main purpose for being there was to help my on-site mentor as much as possible. I don 't know how to do even half of what the paralegal does, but I knew enough to help with standard office stuff, like scanning papers and drafting subpoenas to be sent out (mostly for personal injury cases, but for family law cases as well).
I always had an interest in learning about different sciences in High School, and knew I wanted to choose a career where I could help people. However, it was not until I was in my senior year, when my father fell sick, I realized my true interest was in medicine and the human body. The doctors would come into his hospital room, explaining what tests they were doing and what medications they were going to give him. My curiosity lead me to research the illnesses he was being tested for; forms of vasculitis. It was not until after numerous different tests and a lung biopsy that my father was diagnosed with the rare form of vasculitis, Churg-Strauss Syndrome.
Most of my family members received their higher education. I respect and love graduate school because of the abundance of innovation and also culture diversity. I appreciate immensely all that school has provided me with. I was assigned a teaching assistant position in different classes in Virginia Tech. Being a TA has been an invaluable experience and I greatly enjoyed the mutual learning process from both students and professors.
To align my current role with these long-term career goals, I am actively seeking opportunities for professional development, skill enhancement, and leadership growth. I am pursuing advanced certifications, participating in relevant workshops and training programs, and engaging in networking activities to expand my knowledge and connections within the field. Additionally, I am seeking projects and responsibilities that allow me to strengthen my strategic decision-making abilities, hone my leadership skills, and contribute to meaningful outcomes that align with my long-term vision for my career. At the moment, I am not searching for any specific jobs or internships in the field of study, but by next semester I will have a few options in line. I am highly interested in working with the local government since I feel like I can get a better understanding and experience of how the community works hand in hand with the government and officials.
I would like to participate in the Medical Mentoring Program because I intend on pursuing a career in the medical field. I believe this is truly the best way to get an accurate representation of the medical field experience while still in high school. The Medical Mentoring Program boasts medical professionals from all of over the valley. The providers list itself is enough to make many people apply. However, to me these providers aren't just names.
Why do you believe you are a good fit for the Peer Mentor position? I enjoy helping people be more like themselves. I feel indebted to the University of Saint Francis for helping me grow and live the life that lives inside of me, and I would like to give back that feeling of self-awareness to others. I have positive energy, good communication skills, and a growth mindset. I work well one-on-one and in a team setting.
Personal Statement I come from a large family with relatives from a little ranch in Chihuahua, Mexico. Many of which have never made it past grade school. Mainly due to their mother, my grandma, she had fallen very ill. Due to her condition and lack of money my aunts and uncles dropped out of school to work and help pay for her medication and medical expenses. The older siblings had to take care of the younger siblings.
Being a school counselor put me in a distinctive position to help the teachers in my building and possibly my school district the importance of cultural appropriate instruction. As the molders of our future leaders we have to make sure that we do not short change these learners, they could very well have the answers to some of the most serious problem that fact our world. As a school counselor, I would have to help other educators to overcome some perceptions they may possibility have about girls not being good at math and science. Many African American girls are also living in low-income situations, therefore they have a gender and economic perceptual status to overcome. It is common for people to believe that males are better
I wrote this paper as if I’m just about to graduate and reflecting on all the things I’ve learned. Now that graduation has finally come around, I’ve learned that all the courses I’ve taken have truly prepared me for success in the professional world. These assignments that I once assumed were meaningless and tedious have in some way taught me a skill preparing me for my future. I keep thinking about how in just a couple weeks I’ll be crossing across the stage and shaking all of my previous professor's hands who’ve helped me get to this point.
What I hope to achieve as a peer educator is to gain knowledge in areas that will help me in my future career as a medical professional. I hope to gain knowledge that will help me educate individuals, especially minorities. My knowledge might help them live a healthier and safer life for them and their family. From the Principles of Leadership list, I hope to develop in the communication aspect. I have always had a trouble communicating with others.
