H.H Holmes confessed, “I was born with the devil in me. I could not help the fact that I was a murderer, no more than the poet can help the inspiration to sing”. During this time Holmes was growing to be America’s first recorded serial killer and taking place in the tail end of the Industrial Revolution, technology and architecture improved to new levels. Much like Holmes, life in the city was chaotic. Chicago at the time was moving to a more industrialized society.

Depending on what fair you attend, food quality varies from food stand to food stand. Food is one of the essential components that keeps people coming back to the fair. No matter how old someone is, they are never too old to enjoy delicious fair food from the Iowa State Fair. It was costly, but I did try food from almost every other food stand. However, it didn’t matter what food stand I went to, each and every one possessed its own version of heaven on a plate.

As humans we often find ourselves drawn to the horrible and macabre thing that happen in this world. In particular, serial killers have become a very popular subject matter for study. In Devil in the White City, Erik Larson capitalizes in this interest in order to produce a national bestseller about H.H. Holmes and his series of gruesome murders. What makes Larson’s novel even more shocking is the fact that everything is grounded in truth. With extensive studying and a seemingly never ending list of cited sources, it is easy for the reader to place their trust in the writer.

Supporters of the Constitution, they attempted to convince the States to validate said document. Hamilton, with John Jay and James Madison- said individuals anonymously published a series of essays known as the Federalist Papers as a response to any argument Anti-Federalists could offer. Both Hamilton and Madison argued against the formation of a Bill of Rights for the Constitution; they argued it would create a "parchment barrier" that limited the rights of the people, as opposed to protecting the common man. Although African Americans have been considered free in terms of the law, in some states, especially Mississippi in the early sixties, the Caucasian population had not evolved past the discrimination and hate they felt towards African Americans. But there were people that wanted to help the African Americans in the deep South. These Civil Rights activists were the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee(SNCC)(Wisconsin). College students from all over America were recruited to help the African Americans with their racial injustice. Freedom summer wanted to do three things for the Mississippi blacks (Wisconsin).
In addition to educational exhibits, the fair also provided an opportunity for entertainment. The world 's first Ferris wheel performed on the fair 's Midway, as did a zoo, a fun house, and a swimming pool. Not only did foreign countries send authorized displays, entrepreneurs also accumulated displays depicting life in the villages of less prosperous countries. Many people who went to the fair took side tours to see shows, which had set up just outdoor the fair grounds. The fair made Chicago the nation 's informal capital in the summer of 1893, but by the spring of 1894 the city was again mainly known for its ongoing struggle between employers and workers.

Petrarch showed his expertise in poetry, humanism, and scholarship and had a deep understanding of what ancient Latin and Greek literature had been in antiquity. He was interested in making literature the greatest intellectual activity and made poetry his sole profession. For example, Petrarch “took words, methods of sentence structure, figures of speech, and stories from the Latin classics and gave them a new European life.” (Sautter 19)
