Infamous Gangsters The 1920’s were full of people and events that shaped how the world is today. But one of the biggest things from the 1920’s were the mobsters. Some of the most notorious and questionable mobsters from the 1920’s were John Dillinger, Pretty Boy Floyd, and Baby Face Nelson. John Dillinger was born on June 22, 1903, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He started to get into trouble as a young boy when he started hanging out with the wrong crowds. As a young kid he went by the name “Johnnie”. He started getting into trouble by doing pranks on people in his neighborhood, and local corner stores around. He then started to get into petty theft stealing candy bars, gum and other food items. He then got into a street gang called “the Dirty Dozen”. Around his neighborhood he was known as the nice kid who was always happy. Everyone thought he was a good kid but he just hung around the wrong crowd (History) . John was the youngest of two other children. He had a brother and a sister. His mother Molly Dillinger passed away because of a stroke at the age of four years old. His sister had to raise him when she was only fifteen until his father remarried in 1912. Because of these men the FBI and police know how to handle crooks, mobsters and gangsters so that they don’t become too powerful. The world would be a crazy place if the police had no idea how to control the bad men in this world.
