First off, I know you will never essentially receive this letter I just thought it would help me get my feelings out and tell my story. So, here it goes. I’m so sorry, for everything. I killed you. I killed you! Do you know how much that killed me? I took your life away. I didn’t mean to. I was just a kid when it happened. I just wanted to help but instead I made matters much worse. T. Ray hates me, I don’t blame him though. Along the way we somewhat patched things up. A lot has happened in the past couple of months. Life changing moments happened. It all happened when Rosaleen wanted to register to vote. President Johnson finally signed the Civil Rights Act Document! Can you believe it? At first I didn’t really understand it, but Rosaleen explained it to me. When we were walking to town for her to register, we ended up running into some trouble. Ray. Instead, we headed to Tiburon, South Carolina. I remembered one day I found some of your belongings in the attic. I keep them with me to this day. I found a picture of you leaning against a car, a pair of white gloves, and wooden block with a picture of the black Mary on it and “Tiburon, S.C.” written on the back. So I decided to go there hoping to find answers about you and what you were like. And I did. It took quite the journey, but it was worth it. I met the Boatwright sisters. Rosaleen and I started living with them. August told me everything about you. How she used to work for you and grandmother, you meeting T. Ray and how he treated you like a princess, your fight with T. Ray and you leaving, your breakdown, she told me everything. She also told me about how you were coming back for me.
