The plaintiffs in the case, Brandon’s parents, were suing based on the school failing to handle harassment at the school. More claims of wrongful death because of negligence and discrimination against Brandon’s disabilities were a part of the case, as well as suing parents for harassment and emotional distress. The Myers had claimed that the staff members were fostering a system where bullying was being able to thrive in the school and have no consequence, which still seemed to be the case when the life threatening notes were given to the school and no direct action was being taken for the victim. This also includes how the district officials, along with the employees, had kept the evidence and destroyed it to essentially keep the school protected. In March of 2010, the plaintiff’s Rehabilitation Act claim was dismissed in favor of the defendants, but kept all other respects in the case.
It is in humane and extremely sad. Many times through out the book I would stop and put myself in these students’ shoes. And every time I would get frustrated because I just can’t imagine this happening to myself. The sad part is that this kind of treatment still happens to people to this
He let out the anger by fighting other students at his school “The desire to hurt someone, anyone is incredibly strong. It sits within me like a cold iron weight”. He has never been accepted in school by his classmates and teachers. Instead of accepting him they would tease him for wearing clothes that are made out of his sister dress that remained. It helped me understand that if Tiri would have been accepted by his classmates then he would not have started fighting
I have known Enerest Cooper for six years now and have interacted with him extensively in his capacity as an instructor in Law Enforcement and a coach on the football team. During law enforcement class, I have come to know Mr. Cooper very well, and therefore can comment on some aspects of his coaching and teaching. Mr. Cooper was being an amazing teacher and coach at Military Magnet Academy. Enerest Cooper is a kind, caring, hard-working and creative teacher, and it has been a horror working with him. For example, Coach Cooper established a want and desire in each person that he came in contact with on the football field and in the classroom.
Interviewing the homework loving and authobiographical reader was tiring, furstrating and stressful but I learned many things about Dougless Lee during this short amount of time. Although the reponses he gave was not what I expected but it was a valuable expericen. I 'm sure that this experience would help me in the future when interviewing
However, supporters of the case were persistent, so the case was brought back before the judge, and he agreed, seeing that there was no way they would let this go until a real trial took place. While in court, several witnesses were interrogated for the case of the young man, including middle school principal Mary Podlesny, high school principals William Davis and Tom Blauert, one of the main tormentors Roy Grande, and Nabozny himself. Most of the witnesses supported the young man’s case by explaining the relentless bullying and how nobody took action. However, Mrs. Podlesny still denied having any knowledge of the bullying, which was a very stupid move since both Roy Grande and his mother recalled her being present at a meeting about the situation at Ashland Middle School. When Roy was brought from prison to be questioned, he was truthful about everything he did to make Nabozny’s time at school miserable.
Actually, this was a very successful year with my students. As I mentioned before, I was a mentor to Amy Fitzanko. This was not the first time I mentored a new teacher, but this year was different. Amy was to co-teach with the special education teacher for most of the day and it was not going well.
Brother Leon 's abuses his power my hitting a student, watching another student get beat up by another student. Brother Leon abuses power from the beginning of the book to for end of the book. From pushing kids up against lockers and sticking up for a school gang as the principal In charge. Today we still do have people who abuse their power such as teachers, coaches, bosses it 's happens all the time weather they know that they are abusing it or not it
In the article Helping Them To Open Up it states “...that other kids at the boys school bully him.” The boys grades were ok and was doing exactly what he was told claimed by Ashford. Brian relates to this on a personal level because he never told his father about the secret that he knew about his
I decided the best option was to learn more about the situation by sitting down with the parents. If the teacher had any suspicion that Tyrone was being abused at home, she should contact outside services. The philosophical principle that aided in solving this dilemma was rightness of action. As a teacher, if there is any harm inflicted on a child in their classroom it is their obligation to act. In this case the teacher needs to contact outside services because she knows that a child being treated harshly at home is wrong.

After I poured his coffee and handed it to him he replied,"Keep doing what you are doing and make your mama proud. " I was so offended I did not know what to do, and his ways have caused me to be bitter towards him and, to be honest, I want nothing to do with him when he comes in the store. A class divided showed how blacks and other races feel when they are treated unfairly. When Mrs. Elliott asked her students to remove their collars that was a sign of them being equal again. What was also interesting was how the students scores dropped when they were on the bottom but raised when they were on top.
Cal began to cry but a TA went to comfort him and distract him by showing him a stuffed animal that he likes. The other TA went to Emery and told her, “we are gentle with out friends, we do not hit our friends because it hurts their bodies (observation, September 25, 2015)“. Emery did not pay any attention to the TA was trying to squirm out of her arms. Again, this shows Emery’s feisty temperament and how it can affect other student’s in the classroom. Cal handled the transgression fairly well because his reaction was not intense compared to if a feisty or fearful tempered student got
Mrs. Hughes held her students to a high standard, especially the Pre A.P. students. She would remind them repeatedly that in the eleventh grade the students would be completing A.P. work instead of Pre A.P. work. Overall, Mrs. Hughes’s classroom had set rules that almost every student abided
This case is different from what I am used to so far. The case is a Child Protective Services (CPS), and deals with children and youth being maltreated in the form of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. My supervisor has been observing my performance, and believes I am ready to take up this huge assignment. I see this CPS case as a learning opportunity, and a milestone in my field placement at OCY.
