Mrs. Wagoner has been teaching for 24 years. With many years of experience, she has taught in the following, first, second, sixth, seventh and eighth grades.
When a student is having trouble understanding the lesson she is teaching, she will work one-on-one, peer, visuals and anchors (examples from other students). Students that are in need for Individual Education Program (IEP) she follows the modifications and one-on-one to help the student meet their education goals.
Motivating kids to become active learns can be challenging, Mrs. Wagoner uses many ways to motivate her students some of the ways include, movement (cooperative learning activities… out of seat), use of the clickers /whiteboard paddles, music, video clips, student collaboration and accountability. She communicates with the parents with having the child places a phone call, she will also place phone calls, emails, letter/paper notification and a planner.
Teacher’s biggest challenges today. She feels is, student mental illness, student environment challenges, medical issues and behavior issues.
Mrs. Wagoner said that improvement for public education today would be more paraprofessionals/support (budget cuts), more technology availability, graduate classes/furthering ed. Paid for by the state. Her view on homeschooling, she does not think public school system fits all students. If homeschooling, online classes and /or alternative school setting helps a child be successful, she fully supports
