My College Goals

My goal is to graduate from Blue Ridge Community College.

I will pass my classes this semester with at least B’s, so I can earn an Associate’s degree and enter into James Madison University’s School of Business program in the fall.

At this time, this goal is important to me because it will affect my quality of life in the future. By completing the transfer program at Blue Ridge Community College, it creates opportunities for me. I will be able to transfer to a four-year university and earn a Master’s degree. Thus, I will be able to have a career and be able to support myself and my family.

I will know when I have succeeded in achieving my goal when final grades are posted and I earned at least a B in each class. Furthermore, I

My goal is attainable, because I have support from my family to encourage me to reach my goal. Additionally, I have the time to devote myself to my school work. I can use the school’s student services, such as peer tutoring and counseling, to help me achieve my goal.

Accomplishing my goal will not come without obstacles and challenges. I foresee myself loosing motivation to put forth my best effort into my school work, and not using my time wisely to achieve my goal. Additionally, it is likely that family obligations and my desire to have a social life will distract me from accomplishing my goal. I will cope with these challenges by creating a weekly to do list and rewarding myself for completing it.

My proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Word will help complete assignments and, therefore, achieve my goal. I have accomplished a related goal previously; I have earned all A’s each semester while at BRCC. Additionally, I know several people that have earned an Associate’s degree from BRCC and transferred to a four-year university to complete a program. I must improve my critical thinking and writing skills to help keep my goal
