Audience and their expectation
During my conversation and presentation, I will be having three different audiences. One message will be delivered to Greg. Another message will be delivered to the colleague at the office, and the last message will be derived to the SNA board of directors. When it comes to audience expectation, Greg is expecting me to deriver to him what I learned about culture competency and its importance in cross cultural relationship. In addition, during one on one meeting with Greg, I will talk about the importance of cross cultural skills. Lastly, we will talk about the applicability of culture competency in partnership between SHOW and SNA. My second audience expects me to deriver my personal reflection. During this presentation, I will talk about my cultural norms, believes and sensibilities. We will also talk about the importance of having personal reflection about own culture. This will take us through identification of our bias in regard of others culture. This will help them to reflection on their cultures and identifying their bias. According to Chand (2015), upward communication is a communication where by a lower level worker presents to the upper level person. Since, Greg is my boss, my communication will be an upward oriented. My presentation to colleague from the office will be a horizontal communication because we are at the same level. A horizontal communication is a type of communication that happen between two or more people who are on the same level (Chand, 2015). Lastly, during my presentation to the SNA board, the communication will be external.
