Parents set rules for their children to prepare them for the real world, ensure their safety, and provide them with the confidence and independence they need. In fact, the rules that I had as a child made a great influence on the person I am today. That’s why it is critical for parents to set proper rules for their children. Even though I will raise my children with the same values I earned from my parents, I will set different rules than the ones my parents set for me as a child. Independence is an essential value that must be given to children to prepare them to be responsible adults in the future. In addition, giving children their own room makes them more independent and responsible at an early age. However, my parents did not give me my own room until I reached high school and I think it had to be done earlier. In contrast, I will allow my children to have their own room even earlier than that. Additionally, I will let my children drive as soon as they reach 18 and will be allowed to drive to university. I understand that allowing them to drive will make them more responsible and trustworthy. Although this may be true, this was not the case with my parents, I am not allowed to drive until I graduate university and find a job. I think that driving can also increase independence and is a basic right that should be given to children when they reach 18.
