One time in my life where I had to use my inner resources to overcome an obstacle would be when I got nominated for Posse, which happened 5 months ago. My magnificent math teacher nominated me, whom I am extremely thankful to have. He nominated me because he saw some drive in me to succeed, but my obstacle became apparent and it was my environment. It hit me when I realized that some old friend of mine was in a top school in queens where they were taken 2 AP classes in sophomore year already. So whenever we conversed, they mentioned their astonishment of the fact that my school does not have more than just two AP classes or even a wider variety of subject courses. Yet I had something inside of me telling me that I had to go through this. My first round interview came on the third of September. Determination to go through this process began settling in, and although I did not feel confident, the self-assurance was surely building up by the minute. Upon entering a room with 80 other students, I knew that I was being looked upon. All of the Posse representatives had note pads where they scribbled notes here and there. They first showed us an introduction video, showcasing how different students have gotten the scholarship and managed to prosper and become a huge role model. The video was what set me off on a journey of motivation. I even became saddened for even thinking about giving up such an amazing opportunity to showcase myself, and the potential that I have to thrive. I began to put all possibilities aside, for even thinking about turning away from this.
