My Forensic Science Career

SECME offers many opportunities in the science, technology, engineering, and math field. Based on my experience going to a STEM school, I figured that if I were to have a job in a STEM field, it would most likely be related to either science or math. Science and math stimulates my mind the most because to me, it is really interesting and it is basically something that I wouldn’t mind being paid to do. If everything goes right, I would be in the science field because of my love for forensic science. After some thorough research, I learned that engineering has improved our economy and standard of living. In SECME, you can have a lot of career options to choose from. You can also have an engineering degree and can still work in other fields like law for example. There are many different types of engineering that can be applied to different types of fields. Although there is some variety to what each company specializes in, they all apply many different types of engineering into their work. For example, ExxonMobil makes refiners, petroleum products, and chemical manufacturers. In order for them to produce their products, workers would need knowledge about chemical and manufacturing engineering. Pratt Whitney uses technology to make aircraft engines such as military and commercial engines. Dupont deals with global issues and how to improve them by applying science and engineering principles towards their work. They offer job opportunities that involve agriculture, automotive, building and construction, electronics, energy, food and beverage, government and public sector, health care and medical, marine, mining, packaging and printing, plastics, and safety and protection.
