My Leadership Philosophy Essay

My leadership philosophy is founded on three core pillars: being a lifelong learner, being a giver, and influencing others.

2. Being a lifelong learner: Leadership is a continual process in which you, a leader, must constantly be growing. As such, learning and growing as a leader is essential. A lifelong learner leader is open to new ideas, perspectives, and experiences. They seek feedback from their team and are fearless in admitting their mistakes. When leaders embrace a growth mindset, they set an example for their team to do the same.

3. This has translated to continually reading books on various topics, from leadership to philosophy: biographies and other nonfiction works. In addition, I have worked closely with my two mentors, Stan and Rand, who have challenged me weekly to actively reflect and ponder on experiences and various leadership topics. The times that I have had the most significant impact are when I have been able to use my connections and abilities to help another person achieve their own goals or dreams. Through strategic giving and a continual attitude of thanksgiving, giving is contagious when I lead a team and can bring the team to higher performance levels.
6. Influence: A leader who can influence others is a leader who can make a positive impact. Leaders who lead by example inspire others to follow and become better versions of themselves. To influence others, a leader must first earn their trust and respect. This is achieved by being authentic, transparent, and compassionate. A leader who leads with empathy and understands the needs of their team is in a better position to influence them positively. When those on your team know that you have their best interest at heart, you can make tough calls or give orders that subordinates may not like, but they are willing to complete the mission because they believe in you and your
