Statement Goals
a. Why are you choosing to pursue a graduate program at this time in your career, and what are you hoping to accomplish by doing so?
My family believes that education is most certainly important and the key to a secure life. My parents are together and have been through all the trials and tribulation of student life and their really supportive of me, my dad is all about education he's from a third world country that still has lack of resources and believes we are privilege due to the education provided to us. He's constantly reminding me that I should take the opportunity to broaden my education. I'm flexible, dependable and great interpersonal skills. I'm optimistic, so when things are not going in the direction I want I don't crack under pressure unless there some unforeseen obstacle that's difficult to overcome. I try to be organized and neat. With that being said, I expect to create a space gear to my educational work ethic that wont have me scrabbling through tons of junk. I intend to take a course at a time, if not, things could get out of whack. I have so many things to do and staying focus for me isn't taking numerous courses that I can't handle at the moment. When I'm devoted to something I have to eye on the prize and professionalism is a must for me. There will be days where I'm restless and in an instant I'll fall asleep, consciously I'm still not sleeping and I'll wake up to get assignments done regardless of my current mood. However, if I'm apparently sick I will inform the instructor immediately. In order to succeed sometimes it take a group effort and I'm reluctant work as a team. Sometimes, in order to succeed it takes group effort. I'm very independent but I'm not shy enough not to ask for help. There's this saying, not to be afraid to ask a question if you don't understand, you can knowledge when you say something then to be afraid and pretend like you know. My experiences as a student in elementary made me believe that I could make a differences in someone else's life. I had teachers who used various techniques in class that made learning exceptionally fun. They used things that I would say to myself that I could do that to especially because I have an artistic background. I wanted to explore the arts so I went to a Fashion Design school in New York city years ago. I really love art so much that it has become apart of my everyday experience. l feel that with my crafty habits I could incorporate that into teaching. I have personal professional ongoing experiences, I subbed as a teacher assistant in several schools in New Rochelle and in Mount Vernon. I was able to learn techniques that helped students learn effectively while incorporating classroom structure, routines and productivity. In my experiences I worked with general and special education students from grades Pre- k to 7th grade. I enjoyed being able to work with each Individual student. They have their own unique personalities and learning abilities. It makes me happy when a student needs the assistant and I'm able to support them and give them my feedback. I usually help the teachers with cooperative grouping. Where I would work with students in groups or sometimes individually. I also worked with instructors with lesson planning and determining ways to get student to be fluently engaged in
