For my service leaning assignment, I volunteered at the Conroe Cajun Catfish Festival in support of the Montgomery County Food Bank receiving donations at the festival entrance. In volunteering at the event, I learned the differences in service learning, volunteerism and community service and will provide details in what I learned a about each. I will also provide details and examples of teamwork, communication and networking experiences gained while at the event. A brief overview of the Montgomery County Food bank will also be provided with information on the assignment task, measurable success and interaction with fellow students and organization directors.

I collaborated with individuals to sustain a tutoring program at my local Boys and Girls Club of America and started joining community-based organizations such as Kiwanis International. As time progressed, service participation throughout my undergraduate experience contributed to my desire to serve as an AmeriCorps volunteer. Each educator felt comfortable in presenting instruction in their respective disciplines. However, the teachers formed an alliance and dedicated themselves to merging their unique disciplines. As a result, the team teachers started working with vocabulary terms and mutual understandings and instructional strategies within the disciplines. As time elapsed, teachers and students intelligence and perspectives expanded as connections and generalizations increased.
I went to volunteer at an elementary international languages program set up by the tdsb located at Henry Kelsey Public School .In this reflection I will be writing about my time at Henry Kelsey. First I will talk about what I did during my job. Secondly I will be talking about how my role and how it affected others in the program. Although, I was apprehensive at first, my experience working at the soup kitchen introduced me to my love for community service. In 2012, I was a member of Students Helping and Reaching Everybody (S.H.A.R.E), a volunteering club, at Seoul American High School. S.H.A.R.E provided students the opportunity to volunteer both inside the military base and outside in the city Seoul, South Korea. Initially I joined the club as an extra-curricular activity and community service for future college applications.
For my learning service experience project, I volunteered at my local nursing home, Katy Manor. I have always been around my local nursing home since I was a child because my great grandmother lived there for about seven years and then passed away. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the nursing home and the staff. I served food to the residents and clean the dining hall after they are done finishing their meals. I also went around the nursing home to each room and filled up ice in their cups and gave them a snack if they wanted one.
In terms of providing a holistic learning experience, ranging from academics to whole-person development, Methodist College is an ideal platform where I can gain rudimentary knowledge on an array of aspects. Teachers who always have a strong bond with us helped us unleash our potential and pursue our dreams. Having reunions with students from other schools, I had a surprising observation – students in Methodist College trust and rely on our teachers so much! We respect our teachers in a sense that they love and care about us unconditionally. In addition, my classmates formed small learning groups after class, which I found the learning effect exuberant.
