My Stereotype Analysis

As I mentioned in my Ice assignments before, I tend to stereotype a lot. It is a habit I hate about myself and am currently fighting to eliminate from my life. It has become very hard to eliminate from my life because it has is so common for me to form stereotypes around people for no reason. Just thinking about it now, I am remembering how today walking around NOVA with a classmate I crossed paths with a guy that seemed to be mad. The first I did was stereotype him. His face looked as if he was mad and he was wearing all-black clothes so I thought, he must be punk. It’s interesting to see how parties are evolving in a positive way. Since I was a young kid I’ve always been very interested in politics. It might be something in my blood because all of my family likes it. Yes, we do have different points of views which makes it more beautiful because debates never end. As a young kid I was influenced by my parent’s political ideology but when I understood more and more how the system worked I decided which party I liked the most. The problem with this is I normally tend to believe that only my party is correct and criticize. I feel the same way with my racial and religious background. Due to my differences I sometimes tend to believe that I am superior to other people’s religions or racial backgrounds. An example of when this happens is when I feel superior to Catalans. My mother was born and raised in Madrid, Spain and lived there until she was 22. She is very proud of her heritage but always discusses the situation in Barcelona and how they believe they are an independent country, which in my opinion is non-sense. I always join on the discussion because we agree that Barcelona should not be an independent country and so we feel superior to them because we are Madrilenos.
