If all members of the school community are using the same principles and techniques when managing behaviour, it is much more likely that the children will respond in a positive way. The children will know the range of rewards and dispensations, and the order in which they will be used, no matter who is speaking to them about their behaviour. Workforce re-modelling has had an impact on a number of different professionals who are now working in schools. Support staff and midday supervisors, as well as those running extended school provision, should know the importance and impact of consistent methods. It is also important that support staff are given status within the school so that they are respected in the same way as fully qualified teaching
This demonstrates my understanding of effective learning though appropriate instructional strategies because is displays how I implemented a variety of materials and technological resources to support my instructional strategies and reinforce student learning. It also conveys my ability to assess student’s through both formal (activity sheet) and informal (thumbs up) assessment techniques. These techniques help me evaluate the student’s strengths/weaknesses and the effectiveness of my instructional strategies. This particular skill outcome is important to early childhood education because implementing instructional strategies that reach the diversity of our students is going to promote overall student success. We, as early childhood educators, have to use a variety of strategies to discover more about the student’s developmental process and adjust our instruction in a way that will promote students to become self-directed
Children – Effective communication is very important in developing positive relationships with children because it allows them to understand quickly and easily what is expected of them. This leads them to feeling comfortable and safe in the environment, which in turn creates a happy setting for all involved. Effective communication with children promotes trust between themselves and adults and provides a positive example of behaviour. Another advantage to positive relationships gained through effective communication with children is the child’s sense of self-worth and confidence.

I would use content scaffolding because it’s important to reinforce background knowledge and start from the beginning with a student, while making new connections with them through familiar or highly interesting content that motivates the student to dig deeper. I would also use material scaffolding in the form of a cue sheet with guided examples and possibly a mnemonic device that would help students perform and complete the task of long division. I would reinforce the use of a mnemonic device and guided example through constant modelling with verbalization and practice until the student has mastered long division. This could be considered task scaffolding with the use of performing the task of solving long division by modeling and practicing the mnemonic device with the student one step at a time until he or she can independently use the task by his or herself. The guided examples would also serve as task scaffolding that would be reinforced with verbalization, eventually be phased out over the course of the lesson.
Then I build on that knowledge by working with the class on document A (see instructional material 1.1) then let the class work on the rest of the documents in pairs. Through this method student are shown the material, and the work is modeled for them giving students a better understanding of how to read the documents (Bruner). Allowing students to work in pairs allows for peer learning allowing students to work together, and for students who are accelerated in the class to help those who are struggling with the material (Dewey). This also me to walk around the room, and help groups who are struggling allowing for easier monitoring of progress towards the learning target. Lesson 2 starts by comparing, and contrasting FDR’s handling of Japanese Americans, and how Trump wants to handle immigrants (see instructional material 2.1).
Through implement activities in this classroom, I observed that children have capacity to use materials in variety of ways to learn and explore base on their experiences and interests. Even though I have planned my activity and image how children might approach to the materials, I restrain instructions and let children express how they play and learn. I stay beside to observe and assist when children needed. It is treasure to see how children excited to learn and be creative. In the classroom, I’m sensitive to individual differences and abilities.
When working with children it is important that practitioners know that they have a duty of care towards them and the safety of the children is of paramount. According to the UN convention on the rights of the child (1989): children have the right to learn and develop, they have the right to be protected from harm and make choices. Children learn and develop by making choices, exploring and experimenting within the environment that surrounds them but they do not always posses the skill and judgement to make safe choices and decisions at all times. Therefore it is the responsibility of the practitioner to identify any potential dangers, and make the decision on when it is safe to allow the child to undertake an activity or make a decision.

Another technique I learned is to create good classroom procedures and rules. Having good procedures and rules will allow the students to know what I expect in the classroom and the class will run fluently. I also learned about motivation in students. We discussed certain strategies that we can use as an educator to increase motivation in the classroom. Some strategies that I will use in my classroom are; to use rewards sparingly, make my students feel welcomed, be positive, use praise orally, promote mastery learning, and use clear and constructive
It is a viable tool for addressing the maximum participation of the child and can be a catalyst to ensure effective learning. Effective teachers use an array of teaching strategies because there is no single, universal approach that suits all situations. Different strategies used in different combinations with different groupings of students will improve learning outcomes. Literature Review “Children know how to learn in more ways than we know how to teach them.” —Ronald Edmonds (1991) Each child learns in a different way, therefore if teachers are mainly focused on instructing the majority auditory/visual learners; the students who have different learning styles needs aren’t being met, which results in lack of basic skills moving forward. The idea of one instructional strategy fitting all is creating a void in classrooms; which in turn is failing to help those students struggling the most. Campbell, Helf, and Cooke, (2008) suggests a reason for some students’ ongoing lack of achievements that, “too often, students are instructed indirectly, watching and listening to the teacher or other students with little or no opportunity to actually read” (p. 268).

School and teachers can influence the extent and quality of learning for all students. Teacher’s beliefs, practices and attitudes are important for understanding and improving educational processes. They are closely linked to teachers’ strategies for coping with challenges in their daily professional life. Educators have control over numerous factors that influence motivation, achievement and behaviour of students. They are turning around their approach into a focus on creating positive school climate and responsive classroom as part of holistic quality education based on child rights where there is effective teaching and classroom management, thus enhancing students’ learning experiences.
I will be flexible and open to changing my teaching style whenever it is needed. It is about what works for the student. Whatever method is chosen, it will not be the teacher talking and the kids passively listening. Students should be encouraged to reflect on the information at hand and think critically. The methods should be multicultural, effective, active and democratic.
