I enjoy learning about how organizations can selflessly impact communities, and how I can return the favor. To me, service is one of the few virtues in life that can benefit both those who sacrifice and those who benefit from the sacrifices. To give something and expect nothing in return is one of the most growing experiences anyone can undergo. My Miracle Babies Drive is an important instance of this to me, as the donations will be given to families with newborns in the NICU. But citizenship is yet another pillar affecting my nature.
When thinking about someone's character, or who they are as a person, every trait has its purpose. Character could be friendly, humble, or even courageous; but it can be troubling and rude as well. There are many facets to every person and their personalities. Though the only character that matters is that of what makes a person them. National Honors Society, a group of individuals who have the pillars of scholarship, leadership, service, and character; symbols of excellence within the school and home communities.
God has blessed me with every type of love: love of a teacher, love of a friend, love of family, and most importantly his love. Altogether, the love from my teachers, friends, parents, and Heavenly Father has shown me what love should be like, unconditional and limitless. Their examples of love have inspired me to spread my love also. Not only to my family, but also the entire community.
Throughout the years, I have been fortunate to receive many opportunities to learn about and serve my community in many different ways. One of my earliest memories of service comes from the Virginia Living Museum, where I began working as a Touch Pool volunteer when I was eleven years old. It was there that I began to learn what service meant to me. To serve was to teach, and to bring my knowledge and ideas to new people every time I volunteered. It meant becoming a part of my community and giving back to the people I cared about the most.
As a student at Catalina Foothills High School, I believe I have lived up to the tenet of service and display ideals that the National Honors Society seek for in a student and citizen in society. If I am granted membership into the society, I believe I can contribute my qualities to the community as a member of Catalina Foothills National Honor Society and demonstrate the highest standards of behavior to represent our school honorably. To begin, I would like to establish the importance school and grades plays in my life. As of freshman year, my GPA has been a 3.8, but it constantly continues to grow and improve. My grades are a top priority in my life, because I’m aware that in order to succeed in life you need to be knowledgeable of how the world works.
I should be selected as a Senate Youth Delegate from Missouri for many reasons, including the numerous leadership positions I’ve held and am currently holding, such as being the president of my high school’s National Honor Society, the Junior Class President, a 4-year member of student council, and the section leader of the drumline in my high school’s band. I have been able to build myself as a person through leadership and hard work, and I value both of these characteristics deeply, as they largely determine how others see and respect me. additionally, these experiences and positions have allowed me to truly determine that my leadership and hard work define who I am as a person, and I cherish those characteristics above all others. I believe
For my community engagement project, I chose to volunteer at Habitat for Humanity for the past couple of months. Habitat for Humanity is a worldwide non-profit organization that helps families and community members improve, build, and renovate places that they call home. Habitat does this by helping fight homelessness by building affordable housing. Habitat for Humanity is able to do this by having the future homeowners and volunteers (myself) build the house with no labor costs and no interest in making the home more affordable. Not only does Habitat reduce cost by having volunteers/no labor costs to decrease price, they also are able to get materials at reduced price and charge no-interest on mortgage payments, making it more accessible to
My reasons for wanting to serve Peace Corps Volunteer are personal and intellectual. First of all, I want to share the knowledge I have acquired throughout my life by making myself available and becoming part of something bigger. I’ve had the opportunity to attend school and I recently completed a graduate degree; this has been a great accomplishment not only for me, but for my family as well. Therefore serving as a PCV would be a rewarding experience not only for me but for those who have supported me throughout my life, since I will contribute towards a bigger cause by helping to improve the lifestyle of less fortunate people. After successfully receiving a graduate degree, it is expected that I find a permanent job related to my field of
I am interested in volunteering at Baylor Scott & White Hospital because I want to learn more about how a hospital works. I have always wondered how exactly a hospital is run and how nurses and doctors are able to give their best to each and every patient at the hospital. I want to learn how everything is processed and kept organized. I’m also interested in working a professional atmosphere just to see how it is like. I’ve always gone to hospitals to visit the sick and injured and have recently become curious about how it is like ‘behind the scenes’.
Even in the 80’s before high profile cases of abuse, in some centres hugs were acceptable and in others handshakes were preferred. Insert image From what I witnessed first-hand and still witness today is values for community based care and care for profit are markedly different in general although in some cases it would be hard to tell from values taught whether it was a community based centre or privately run. I think if you set up and owned a centre you would want it to represent your values and it would be hard to accept values that were not similar to your own. Now practically all care providers in New Zealand responsible for care of children under 5 are obliged to demonstrate how they solicit views of parents on a whole range
People volunteer at many different stages in life and for many different reasons. The first philosophy of volunteering came from philanthropy, “the love for mankind,” this type of service usually took place in the form of a large financial gift (Aliprandini and Finley). However, the philosophical basis for volunteerism has turned
It has taught me what really serving the community involves. This experience I have gained from such a voluntary service especially with such innocent and adorable children is as an eye opener as I am able to see some of the challenges faced by the society in this world. Listening to the stories of how most children live within the slum area is surely so touching imagining that many families experience such difficulties in real life. Volunteering has increases my reasoning as this has helped me to think about various challenging social problems in our community and how I can find solutions for them.
VI. So today, I hope to persuade each of you to take a part as volunteer in any kind of situation. VII. Because, by being a part as a volunteer, it can increase your socialization yet it can make you physical and mental health more better and can improve your career level.
Volunteering is a way of helping others. It is giving a person 's time and ability to help someone who may be in need of help. Not only does volunteering help others, but what they may not know is that it can be helpful to themselves. It is a great way for someone to interact with others in their community. It gives someone that time to themselves while also creating bonds when they are doing the greater good.
