I always knew NYU was meant for me. After getting rejected as a first-time freshman, I did not get easily discouraged, instead, I devoted two amazing learning years to nursing prerequisites at Cypress College, viewing this setback as an opportunity for growth and improvement in all aspects of my life. As I wrap up my journey at community college to take the next step in my life, I ask myself, “How will I be able to make a difference in healthcare and make efforts to positively change my community?” As a first-generation college student who's been surrounded by Hispanics throughout my life, I know how stubborn and scared my community is to get the medical attention they need and deserve. Working as a bilingual nursing assistant, I have created
As I near my final semesters at NDSU and look towards graduate school I can’t help but try and summarize my time here. I have learned so much about my passion for design and the potential I have to do great things thanks to the education NDSU has provided me. In truth I have never really lived the “real college experience” because that is not what I want to remember when I look back at my collegiate experience. I don’t want to remember the parties I went to, I want to remember the late nights spent in studio chasing a design, the hours spent with my friends and peers working through architecture problems, and the connections I’ve made with faculty members in the architecture department who’ve become almost a second family. If I were to summarize
As I walked from Washington Square Park to Broadway, I’ve never felt so free. I have never actually felt as if I was accepted in a society like the diverse cultural atmosphere which lives and breathes NYU. Intellectually and socially, NYU offers exactly what I need. NYU prides itself on being very inviting and accepting of all gender norms, nationalities, and cultures. Coming from a Russian Background, I see the value of traveling and NYU gives me the extensive ability to study abroad while enriching myself with multiple perspectives.
I believe as a returning student to ISU, I had a unique experience in the class. I graduated with a degree in Child, Adult, and Family Services in May and decided that teaching was my true passion so I returned to Iowa State to begin earning that degree. I have worked for about four years for United Community Schools as a Lead Childcare Associate and as a Substitute Associate in both preschool and special education. Additionally, I have spent time as a Special Education Associate in Ankeny and have volunteered in Ames Community School District Classrooms. With my experience, I have spent a lot of time in schools and in classrooms.
New York University’s fervor to educate future leaders of tomorrow, its dedication to advance the frontiers of scientific research, and its commitment to create a diverse, thriving community–these philosophies are what inspire me to attend NYU. Climate change is one of the most severe problems our global community faces, and already, populations from around the world are vulnerable to issues of water sanitation, food shortages, and security risks. Through my experience leading Give Hope with Soap – a global service initiative providing clean water to the people of Malawi, Africa – I discovered nearly thirty-three percent of the world’s population lives without access to freshwater. Even worse, by 2025, two-thirds of the planet could suffer from freshwater shortages. With the drastic rise in these problems throughout the world, I believe producing ample, clean water will require innovative thinking and unique solutions.
I have always been involved beyond the classroom with the schools I attend. I attended King Kekaulike High School in Maui. My freshman year, I was an active member in Interact club, a local service club. I was also on the junior varsity volleyball team and the girls varsity soccer team. I was the team captain for the girls varsity soccer team at KKHS both my junior and senior year.
Studying business at an institution that focuses on interdisciplinary research, such as New York University, will help further my entrepreneurial career and reach my dream. NYU will provide me with immense opportunities that will help me grow my career and supply me with the assets I need to bring meaningful change to the world, specifically the sustainability concentration that the university offers. Taking classes such as Social Entrepreneurship in Sustainable Food Business, Entrepreneurship in Sustainable Protein, and Driving Market Solutions for Clean Energy will prepare me with the needed resources and knowledge to work on creating a healthier planet through energy or even alternative proteins. As Stern hopes to improve the world through uplifting beneficial businesses, I hope to use the unique resources provided to and manage eco-friendly businesses that produce less waste and greenhouse gases but are still affordable and successful. I hope to attend school in New York City because of the numerous connections to start-ups
Learning and Scholarship are critical values to all students, but throughout my time at ISU, I have gained a much deeper appreciation for the idea of being a lifelong learner. The programs for Special Education at ISU are some of the best and have offered me more ways to learn than I originally thought imaginable, and have inspired me to explore my educational possibilities in the future. Through my clinical experiences, coursework, and experiences outside of the classroom, I have gained a deeper appreciation for what it means to work in special education. I have decided that I will get a Masters in School Counseling and work as an academic advisor for special education students. Through this path, I will be able to continue learning more and
I am really interested in NYU because I am fascinated in what this university has to offer. I have always seen this University as a great opportunity to be able to connect with many different people and experience a new environment, and culture. I have been living in Denver, Colorado for seventeen years. I have never experience fast pace life and living in the city. It has a great program in Business and I am highly interested in Marketing, being in New York I would be able to network and have opportunities based on my major when attending the University versus if I stay in state I will not be able to do much with my major until after college.
Since the time when I was small, there was always pressure on how important education was. My parents always inspire me to make the best and work hard and become educated. My parents journeyed all the way from Asia to United States, leaving their families and friends so I can be efficacious in important education is. I give merits to my parent for all their hard work because in America there is no maximum. There are so many openings to learn just like this NYU Step and Best program.
New York University is one of the most prestigious universities in the world, one of the most diverse, and is located in the beautiful West Village in the heart of the amazing New York City, ripe with opportunities. These aspects definitely make NYU an attractive destination for all undergraduates. But why do I personally prefer NYU? The motto of the school, "To persist and to excel", really resonates with who I am and my intended major.
My educational experience in psychology has motivated me to pursue a master’s degree at NYU in general psychology with a focus on forensic psychology. My objectives while at NYU would be: acquire clinical techniques in order to conduct psychological testing on inmates; gain proficient knowledge in the law and legal system; advance my analytical writing skills for mental health assessments; and understand the basic psychological factors that influence jury decision-making. Following completion of the master's program, my career ambitions are to work with incarcerated individuals and develop a technique to reach inmates whose mental health disorders go unheeded. The general master's program in psychology would be an ideal place for me to continue my studies because of the rare
Fast-forward to the year 2022. The nonprofit tutoring organization I started as a sophomore in high school, which supports low-income families in the Chicagoland area, can expand due to the resources and experiences NYU has imparted to me as an undergraduate student. NYU’s commitment to research in financial fields, social internship opportunities, and a global academic scope allow for me to not only continue a dream I began at fifteen, but to open my eyes to new ways of approaching problems. To begin with, NYU enriches opportunities beyond the classroom by offering hands-on initiatives, such as the Stern Program for Undergraduate Research, which gives me the opportunity to utilize the vast resources available in New York City to conduct
As a May 2015 graduate of Manhattan College, landing a financial analyst position for a global media agency brought me into a brand new world of increased involvement in budget project management roles. Doing so has made me aware of the challenges that come along with projects and the project managers who are charged with bringing them to completion. My client account is Machine Zone, recognized for their most popular games on the App Store - Game of War and Mobile Strike. As a financial analyst, I have gained significant experience in overseeing and coordinating all aspects of client budget management. This encompasses all financial transactions for my client, including but not limited to budget reporting, planned versus actual, projections and forecasts, client billing, discrepancy management, and client receivables.
The heart of New York City is New York University. By joining the network of NYU, I will be able to study at an institution that has a long tradition of academic excellence among private universities in the United States. Additionally, I will be able to be part of an internationally recognized learning network with locations all across the globe. It would be a pleasure to study at a globally recognized university. A friend of mine who is a recent graduate from NYU College of Nursing has praised the program and conveyed to me a very positive experience.
