Positively and Negatively Affects Children

Technology has become a vital aspect in today’s world. Millions of people are reliant on different kinds of technology as they now can shop, pay, and bank online, receive and share news through emails and various social network, watch TV shows, videos, and movies, listen to music, play online games or computer games, and speed up work processes, tasks, and jobs. It is not surprising that not only adults but also children are grossly reliant on different technologies as well.

It alters the way children think. For example, video games stimulate motor skills but on the other hand, it gives them lots of visual and sensory distractions thus their brain becomes overloaded and affects brain chemistry and anatomy. As a result, children have become less creative, have different logic and reason, and have attention problems for example.

2. It affects their health. Indeed, health professionals blamed computer exposure, gaming devices, tablets, and other electronic devices for the rise in diabetes and obesity among children. In addition, several studies pointed out other health problems when children are overexposed to technology such as poor eyesight, back pain, lethargy, and weak bodies. The lack of physical activities when using technology has promoted sedentary lifestyle for children.

3. Promotes negative psychological health. While it helps children develop social skills and interpersonal relationships, it is not comparable to social skills and interpersonal relationships developed the traditional ways as the relationship and communication are not really that deep.
