Obesity is increased because of the large portion sizes and the increased energy density of foods. Fast food is likewise associated with higher body mass index, less successful weight-loss maintenance and weight gain. Eating out frequently can increase your chance of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Fast food can also harm your central nervous system as people that eat fast food, and other processed food are 51% more likely to suffer from depression. Most fast food contains phthalates, which are chemicals that can interrupt how hormones act in your body. High exposure of these chemicals could lead to reproductive issues, including birth defects. The respiratory system is also extremely harmed by the effects of fast food. Obesity increases your risk for respiratory problems, including asthma and shortness of breath.
