New Belgium can maintain its strategic focus as they grow by continuing to deliver value to their consumers. Matching their strengths with their opportunities to create capabilities is the key to developing strategic focus (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014). They have to continue to stand out to their consumers, creating a reason to buy from them and not from other beer manufacturers.

As the company looks for this creative edge to make them stand out, they need to create a solid SWOT analysis. While the most important step of the analysis is actually identifying the strengths, weaknesses, strengths and threats (Xiaojia, Chenggong, Changhui, Bingli, & Xinsheng, 2017). If solid components of each are not identified or taken seriously, the SWOT analysis is just as good as the matrix it is designed on. Ideally the analysis would minimize the impact of their vulnerabilities and threats, resulting in optimal combination strategy (Xiaojia, Chenggong, Changhui, Bingli, & Xinsheng, 2017).

Overall a SWOT analysis is a great tool to help companies stay ahead of the market or even gain market share. Like anything else, what you put into is likely what you will get out of it. That is why it is crucial for everyone to be involved and know the significance that it can bring to a company. By bringing in different areas of the business can being different perspectives to the table (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014). Their involvement should lead to bigger buy in of the end result.
